Perez Hilton On Gay Marriage: He Is Right!

If you have not heard about the Miss USA Gay Marriage question from Perez Hilton this week, you are either dead, under a rock, or getting boned again by Marilyn Manson.

The question asked by Perez pertained if same sex marriage should be allowed. You knew as soon as she started talking about opposite marriage, that she was about to say something stupid.  Opposite marriage? Miss California Carrie Prejean said she thinks marriage should be between a man and a woman.  No offense.  “No offense.”  Oh I just hate you and want to pee all over you but no offense OK?  Jeees!

Everyone is entitled to your own opinion.  That is what makes this country so great.  But your opinion means more when you are in positions such as she was.  Let’s be honest here, that question cost her the pageant.  Plain and simple.  She is more unpopular than a Dustin Diamond & Denise Richards convention.

The sanctity of marriage.  Total BS.  As soon as church and state became involved in marriage, you lost that argument.  If you are so against gay marriage, then maybe you should be more against straight marriages divorcing.  You want to talk about sin?  Doesn’t it say til death do us part?  Well then.

Perez is in the right.  It was a fair question.  It is no secret we support gay marriage.  Let them get married.  Why do you care so much?  What harm are they causing you? We are taught to love one another right?  He is being outspoken because he was involved in the controversy and has been a gay rights activist in his own way since the inception of his site.  He has a voice and wants to be heard.

Just like I said before, this country is great because you can have an opinion.  It just so happens that Perez’s opinion is the more popular one and the right one.-Dr.FB

Although this is a fair question to ask, one contestant should not have been singled out to respond. To me it is a question phrased so as Ms. California could not give an acceptable answer. Sort of like the question, “When was the last time you know your parents committed an adulterous act?” It implies and assumes guilt and previous commission. Of the 51 contestants, does anyone know how the others would have responded? The timing of the question is suspect. Was it truly the best question to ask at that point in the Pageant? Was it put forth to further an agenda, test the contestant under pressure, or as a statement?

It seems to me we are at a point in American history that the Founding Fathers did not anticipate we would reach following their Constitution and Bill of Rights. This nation was founded on the values of Judeo Christian principles with tolerance allowed for those who did not have the same view. Marriage was for hundreds of years viewed from a Religious, Personal, and Legal perspective as a union between a man and a woman.

Now there is more cultural diversity in the United States. Rather than assimilate as was the policy and expectation of the past, we have moved to a more Politically Correct position of allowing citizen’s to retain their own culture and accommodate rather than educate. That step has led to others to push the envelope of cultural change.

For example, family health insurance coverage, as originally written legally, was a married man and woman and chldren. But in an effort to be equal and not discriminatory, we now expect recognition and coverage for any two persons who decide they have a committment. Whether the relationship unions are Right or wrong is in the eyes of the beholder.

But our system and economy still operates by traditional founding principles. As a society, we have not figured out how to deal with the economic and moral implications. The implications make our economic existence questionable. So we have reached a point where each person will have to have their own individual coverage and family coverage will become extinct if we are to survive as a nation.

We also face a situation where we are moving from the majority rules to my postion is more important than the majority laws that have made our Nation great. Maybe we are at a place where we need to go back to the Constitution and The Bill of Rights and rewrite the entire legal code. How many of our “citizens” have actually read the Founding Documents?

Maybe we should just live by the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Perhaps the Ten Commandments are no longer clear in their intention to too many of our Citizens.

Maybe we are making Mountains out of Mole Hills. Or maybe we have stopped asking ourselves why humans of the same sex cannot reproduce and therefore would become extinct following the demanded rights. Maybe we have too many laws that conflict too many issues. Maybe because of so many changes in our values and support systems we are so desperate for LOVE we will accept any and all relationships that fill that void. Maybe we have forgotten about the downfall of societies that have taken this path in the past.

This is a complex problem with no solution. We cannot solve it by saying, “If it doesn’t directly effect me, I don’t care what others choose.” That authenticates the right to do other things that are illegal. Call me nostalgic if you must, but many of these “societal issues” did not exist when children had a family unit that was responsible for their actions until the child was 21. But 21 became not an acceptable age when 18 year olds were fighting our wars. Then the age of consent became 18 even when the human brain and reasoning is not complete sometimes up to age 25. Why should we expect behaviors would stay the same when too much responsibility with minds and maturity are not developed well enough to make those decisions? When teenage hormones are raging it is not the time to be making life decisions without wiser council.

So do as you choose, pick those partners who fullfill your needs, try not to judge others as you ask others not to judge you. Be sure to remember and not be offended that the Founding Fathers and the documents they wrote express the views of their vision. Do not be surprised by the resistance of the majority since those are their values and foundations. Don’t abandon a quest to make the country better, but be sure better is what you are striving for at all times, not just change. Think through the implications on the lives of all for you have seen the results of quick legislation to meet societal issues.

May all who read this be Blessed in making insightful decisions.

Why are people getting upset at Dr. Funkenberry? Okay, he has his opinion as well regarding gay marriage, and so do I.

The question was quite loaded, I would say, but still a fair question to ask when regards to representing America. As a judge, I would assume u would judge her on her articulateness and her knowledge of the question. To me, she didn’t really know how to answer, she went to what was easiest for her…her beliefs on gay marriage. Her stating, “In my country…” and bumbling into saying “my beliefs”, that tells me she is opposed to gay marriage and it is her opinion.

However, if representing, Miss America and what I would say would be her openness to all people…she should have stated her right for all people to be equal. Simple as that. Miss America represents our nation and she will be competing with others if she were to go the Miss Universe crown, where I’m sure, representatives of other nations would be open minded about gay marriage.

…and to that guy who said he doesn’t think this site is for him…it’s ur loss, cuz Dr. Funkenberry has the good gossip! 🙂

She was honest, this should not have cost her the win, IF, she was gonna win anyway.

Me being a boss, if i were to interview with that question and deny the position to the applicant that doesn’t agree with me… that would be cool?

drfunky… the issue isn’t about divorce, the bible does speak on that as well, regardless of the views of society, if she believes same sex relationships is wrong, let her be, being on the correct side of the issue someone said, well… says who?

I thought this site would’ve been great, it’s no longer for me.

Take care and God bless… and yes I said God!

“The sanctity of marriage. Total BS. As soon as church and state became involved in marriage, you lost that argument. If you are so against gay marriage, then maybe you should be more against straight marriages divorcing. ”

What twaddle. Besides the childish notion that all churches and states are too corrupt to sanction marriage, we have the sophistry that one failing justifies another. So it’s incoherent to support divorce and oppose gay marriage? Only if you want to paint anyone who disagrees with you as an extremist straw man. Go take a logic class.

    >> Everyone is entitled to your own opinion. That is what makes this country so great. But your opinion means more when you are in positions such as she was.

Um, wrong. I’m relatively certain it’s possible to figure out with Google Analytics that Perez Hilton will rank higher than Dr. Funkenberry for pageviews, clicks, links-to, etc. Such knowledge should entitle that retarded queen to be in “positions such as she was” over Doc FB for which is the better blog.

But Mario Wash-your-hands-before-returning-to-work is still that retarded queen (no offense to retards or queens) with a snide, craven blog, and Doc FB used to be an interesting blog I liked to read, but it just beclowned itself for claiming that celebrity is justification enough to elevate opinions.

Let me fix at least your last sentence for you: Perez Hilton is a talentless leech who used his appointment to a women’s beauty pageant to ambush a silly and inarticulate girl for the purpose of aggrandizing himself, despite that he happens to be on the correct side of the issue.

Speaking as a homosexual, I fully support Miss California. That was a loaded question, and just as much as she should be sympathetic to our lifestyle, we should be sympathetic to her right to an opinion. And if she says she supports gay marriage, then she offends the 49 states who dont. And Perez Hilton is a fucking nut, and in no way represents homosexuals anywhere.

This was Miss America, not anything relevant ever, and you are a jackass for posting something this stupid. But i guess i have to be sympathetic to your right to post it.

Actually it wasn’t a fair question, and it should have never have been asked. If they are going to ask one contestant that question they need to ask them all.
