My boss says everything is ok Says:

    October 2nd, 2009 at 5:04 pm
To all of the Macy’s employee’s posting – do you actually think your boss is going to tell you the company is struggling or will they deliver Terry’s scripted outstanding response? You’re re-arranging the deck chairs on the TItanic. Do you think the divisions in Seattle, St. Louis, Minneapolis or Atlanta were told of their elimination beforehand? Very few people in these 1000 plus locations had any indication this was about to happen. I wish Macy’s the absolute best, but please don’t assume because you’re Macy’s the company is immune to the current financial crisis. I’m sure your small increase this year was due to “the company not performing as a whole”. Your boss however, along with all of the other Senior’s saw their bonuses. In this economic climate, no one is a sure thing. Update your resume and be ready to control your own destiny.

To the person who posted this as well as all employees. First so you know the truth every senior exec in the company signed an agreement that they will forgo raises and bonuses to pass on to the storeline teams that means your store managers gave up there raises for you as well as there bonuses. Be proud you work for Macys as we are the innovators in department stores and others will fall as we continue to grow bigger and better than we ever were. It is sad that over 9,500 jobs were loss some of them my friends but. My advice to all you newer execs is always remember that you can be replaced in a heart beat and don’t ever think for one second that this company I love so much won’t toss us aside like yesterdays news, cause they will. Don’t make the mistake that so many great and talented people who already were go made. Be your best alway’s make them need you, don’t ever let them think you need them. And last relationships, remember business first don’t think because he or she is cool or nice and laughs at your jokes that they got your back, because I can guarantee you that behind close doors conversations happen everyday about who should stay or go, who has a future and who doesn’t . Those relationships or connections as we use to call them don’t exist anymore, you must perform or be gone. Best of luck to all of us.

I’ve worked for macy’s since they were filenes and this company is garbage.Trust me,our district manager is a prick he stands at our jewlery counter and watches us in cosmetics “taking notes” he’s just a joke. Their the reason why people hate going into stores. They treat their employess like crap and their customers worse, they let everyone know they only care ab $ that’s it.we have to open up credit cards to keep our jobs and they raise our sales goal even though ppl r losting their jobs and having their homes foreclosed on!!!! All for minimum wage and they say”well ur lucky to have a job” job? Wtf lmao I’m sorry I’m not proud to minipulate ppl and lie to my customers this company is a rip off and a scam if ppl knew how they really operated they would never shop there trust.

Oh those poor people losing their jobs. HA wtf ever so many people are losing their jobs and we have to care that some overpriced department store employee who doesnt want to help you unless you have an American Express Black Card is going to have to find another place to treat people poorly. Who cares.

Bizarre article. Simply stupi. Macys is showing projected
earnings of $1.00 next quarter and is at $18.00 a share today.
Citicorp just upgraded Macy’s this week. This post was a scam.

I shop at Macy’s using my credit card, much better deal than rent-to-own. It looks like the women’s department are getting more sales than the men’s department. In order for the ecomony to recover, more credit unions need to follow the lead of this credit union and a few others.
Everyone on this board, please check out the following link about how a credit union rescued a young lady from the payday loan debt trap before her credit became damaged.

I love Macys. I tend to stick to only the clearance merchandise. I don’t think i’ve paid regular price for any item there in years. I guess i’m part of the problem 🙂 I do hope that they can make it for a while and not close its doors. Where will I shop?

I think all of this rumor talk is ridiculous! I am a Macy’s Sales Manager and I use to work for the May company. When I first started 14 years ago with Famous Barr we were going to buy Macy’s. How things have changed. I have had the privilige to manage several different areas at different times in the store and I have always been successful exceeding my sales plan. The rumors about Macy’s filing for bankruptcy is ridiculous. It is an orginazation that has a great master plan in place to provide fine quality goods at a reasonable price. We have a great future ahead of ourselves and the only reason that we will fall to the bankruptcy court is the rumors don’t stop. Come see how affordable we are and shop with us. Look forward to Chrstmas and use your Macy,s card enrolling in thanks for sharing so you can come back and see us in febuary! Stop spreading rumors and come shopping we have great value in service and pricing. Thank You and stop the rumor mill we truly have affordable luxery.

I’m a sales associate at Macy’s…the company has geared up to promote higher sales – more items per transaction, offer higher priced item first, avoid showing or promoting clearance products etc. In the past, the sales associates main goal was to open loyalty, you know “the Macy’s card” But many customers are very angry to find their credit limit has been lowered drasticly in the past few months. Someone who had a $1,200 limit was cut to $200…they never missed a payment and had excellent credit. I hear the same story almost every day. So you tell me, push for higher sales and lower credit limits??? HMMMM?

Again I work for macys and at least in the midwest we are making ours sales projections. All the evidence I’ve seen point to the fact that macys will get through this just fine. I’m not worried. My store manager said we have excellent relationships with banks and our company is projecting that macys will come out of the recession ahead and be one of the few companies that do make a profit. I hope the rumours stop because that does hurt business.

I worked for macys and now I am out of there. The management are a bunch of worthless assholes! I took a VERY HEFTY buyout before I was going to sue them. I hope that the whole chain goes under and starts feeling the pain that they have caused others and that whole buch has to start typing out new resumes to find themselves new jobs!
Headline reads: Assholes out of job,…need new ass to call home, dingleberries welcome!

I use to work for Macy’s as a regional director and work closely with the management in HSQ in NY and this has been a long time coming…they still have to much upper management and property (that they are not useing) form the merger from with May co. and that happened about 3 years ago and 1000’s of employees later. They had no idea what they were taking on when bougth them out and then handle it the wrong way once they realized how huge it was.

I work for macys, and every one in upper management and some executives are saying that it’s all a rumor. Macys is supposedly doing good, not doing great but good enough. Bankruptcy isn’t something they’re considering.

Well, this isn’t supposed to be funny, but I clicked on this initially thinking it was about Macy Gray.

Gee whiz, though. Macy’s has been around FOREVER. Bankruptcy is not necessarily the end of business, though.

I have a friend who’s mom works at Macy’s and is afraid of losing her job.

Stupid jokes that are not on topic should be avoided. Its disrespectful to my friend, and to his mom and others.

If you want to crack jokes like that, by all means, make your own web site please.
