ABC Lifts Ban On Lambert; Will Appear On “The View”

The ban from ABC of Adam Lambert appears to be lifted. Well, at least for one performance.  The American Idol contestant will appear on “The View” on December 10th.

He will do an interview and a performance on the talk show.  I have a feeling ABC wants a public apology from him on their own network.  I am sure he will get it but I still don’t think it will change him not being on Jimmy Kimmel or ABC’s new years Rockin Eve with Dick Clark.

What do you think of ABC’s about face on letting him back on the network?  Glambert?  More like Lamebert lately.-Dr.FB

Well, I wouldn’t say the ban has been lifted at all. I think it is just an ingenuine gesture on the part of Disney/ABC to try to fool Adam Lambert fans and america into believing that they are benevolent and forgiving when they are, in actuality, vengeful, punishing and homophobic, but we will not be fooled. I am already finding that I don’t miss any of the ABC shows that I used to watch and, needless to say, I certainly won’t be attending gay days at Disney. I also don’t appreciate the Lamebert comment. Adam happens to be an extremely talented and intelligent young artist, most certainly the best thing to come out of aI. I, for one, will support him tirelessly.

DOC!!! I think it is unfair to refer to Adam Lambert as “the Lambert who made it bad for everyone else.” Have you forgotten you entertainment history Doc???

ABC is the network that cancelled Alan Freed’s Big Beat because Frankie Lymon danced with a white girl during his appearance. The outrage was just as bad among their execs. and Southern audience as the reaction to Adam’s performance. ABC later gave us (insert irony please) Dick Clark and American Bandstand, which spawned Dick Clark Productions and the AMAs.

At the time of the Lymon incident (which he said he hadn’t planned to do, it just happened – sound familiar?) the “unspoken” policy was blacks / whites could not interact in an intimate manner, i.e., dance together, hug, kiss on cheek…

Sorry, Doc, but ABC’s reaction and these performance contracts, just seem like a more vicious form of hateful deja vu.

When ABC cancelled Lambert’s GMA appearance, I think the majority of people understood, whether they agreed or not. These last two cancellations did not go down well, especially since one is pre-taped. Public opinion was overwhelmingly againt ABC, so much so that, on Friday, the Washington Post called ABC out for it.

Any apology ABC may have wanted / deserved has been negated and is now owed to Adam. I think after his appearance on The View, ABC will announce that they have every confidence that Adam Lambert is capable of tailoring his performance to the General TV Audience, and reinstate him to both shows.
