Donate To Haiti Earthquake Relief

AFP/Thony Belizaire

While we spend most of our pixels here talking about celebrities and their dramas, we all know there are real tragedies happening around the world.

The recent 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti is proving to be devastating with death estimates ranging from 100,000 all the way up to 500,000 people. Homes, schools, hospitals, prisons and even the President’s Palace have collapsed. And many people are still trapped as residents and rescue workers rush to bring them to safety. The U.S. is sending financial aid and search & rescue workers to help.

If you feel compelled to donate to Haitian earthquake relief, here are a couple of ways to do it:

Donate directly to the American Red Cross through their website (select the Disaster Relief Fund on their donation page)

Donate to the Red Cross via your cell phone. Just text HAITI to 90999 and a $10 charge will appear on next phone bill.

I recently decided to send donations for Haiti’s people. I suggest that more people send money to those affected by this terrible disaster as well.

I’ve got some Haiti earthquake tragedy news to share. God, this has been a terrible disater. I’d been keeping an eye on what’s been going on because I had family there. Since the 13th, I’d been waiting to hear when the aid and relief I knew we could offer would be released and given to the Haitian community to treat the Haiti native people and tourists there. To keep other people informed because I was lacking a good source of information rather than the same videos of reporters and 30 second videos on CNN and my local news I built a website from the ground up for it and got it fully working yesterday. For more details on the tragedy please just follow the URL attached to my comment. This really has been a tragedy in Haiti and those that want or need to know more should check it out. I’ve listed some resources whereby people can donate as well. God bless and please keep the people in Haiti in your prayers and hope for their survival or do more than hope, help them.

I gave to UNICEF as the thought of helpless babies and children sitting on the streets in shock with no parents just breaks my heart. UNICEF states: “Children are always the most vulnerable population in any natural disaster, and UNICEF is there for them.” you can go to http://www.unicef.org and donate.

I know your compassionate Doc., thank you for thinking if those in need….DESPERATE NEED!!!!

Thx doc for that info. I know this is not a platform to complain but I am discontented with President Obama’s initial comments on the Earthquake (“Cruel and Incomprehensible event”). I would like to ask Pres. Obama…Who are you directing your anger towards ? What would cause you to attribute an “act of nature” to “human actions” as if it was purposely done to kill people and destroy earth?
