The Phoenix Suns who are leading the San Antonio Spurs 1-0 in their best of seven series will be the center of attention tonight when game 2 takes place.

The Suns will be wearing their “Los Suns” jersey when they take the court.  The owner of the Suns Robert Sarver came up with the idea to wear them for Cinco De Mayo and in protest of Arizona’s new immigration law. 

Starver allowed the team to decided weather to wear them or not and they decided unanimously to wear them. 

“Our players and organization felt that wearing our ‘Los Suns’ jerseys on Cinco de Mayo was a way for our team and our organization to honor our Latino community and the diversity of our league, the State of Arizona, and our nation … “

“The frustration with the federal government’s failure to deal with the issue of illegal immigration resulted in passage of a flawed state law. However intended, the result of passing this law is that our basic principles of equal rights and protection under the law are being called into question, and Arizona’s already struggling economy will suffer even further setbacks at a time when the state can ill-afford them.”

Now, my question to you is this; should a sports team be making a political statement like this?  What do you think?-Dr.FB

    Corrupt Canada visa brokers better keep an eye out the Canadian regulators will be up to get you. immigration law minister Kenney recently announced that people which profit from other peoples vulnerabilities and dreams as the smallest involving the low and that they can be punished with a minimum of 2 years in imprisonment. This is certainly surely good news for potential clients but exactly how pre-dominant is it in Canada, does anyone got any kind of feed-back on encounters with fake providers?

    Where do you think Cocaine comes from? Tenn? Wisc? Try Mexico. Illegals are a burden to the US. So a few feathers get ruffled in the mix…oh well.

    Isn’t this law basically a copy of existing federal law? Obviously the people of Arizona are alarmed at the rate of illegal immigrants that are spilling over their border with Mexico into the state. So what are they to do? Just sit back while the whole state implodes? It is clear the feds have no intention of honoring their duty to secure the border. So Arizona has to take these measures. It is a sad situation all around.

    I am all for immigration reform, but AZ just made a huge step in the wrong direction. Then again, they have done that before so not surprising. Go Phoenix Suns!!

    Maybe if AMERICANS would get off their sorry lazy fat asses and did the jobs Mexicans are supposedly stealing, illegal immigration wouldn’t be “out of control.” They won’t come here if they can’t work. DUH. Thousands of Americans lose their jobs every week but it’s all them damn dirty Mexicans at fault for being able and willing to scrub a toilet or wash a dish. YEAH, okay. Get over yourselves. Better yet, get out of Arizona. Puede volver a su estado original.

    I don’t appreciate them expressing their political opinion on the court during playoffs. The SB1070 is just enforcing the federal law that already exists. The media has hyped it up to be something it isn’t and people need to educate themselves before they form an opinion. I live in Phoenix and immigration is OUT OF CONTROL. We, as Americans carry our ID or drivers license wherever we go so why is it out of the question for an illegal immigrant to have to show prove of residency?

    I don’t believe it’s a political statement per se, but a collective showing of support for people (and not necessarily just those who originate from the south of the US) who would be wrongly treated or questioned and very possibly harassed simply based on the color of their skin, their dress or any other “reason” that could be given. Heck, theoretically Steve Nash could be stopped since he is Canadian but for obvious reasons he would not be (and it’s not because he is Steve Nash). I appreciate the team’s stand on something that is clearly wrong.
