Happy birthday Prince! It may be a hot summer, but that song is not hot! I mostly hear some chick on it! Anyway, still waiting on his new album ;-)

    Thanks. Very poppy, catchy tune.

damn i want that hairdo …:)

  7. CC Says:

Thanks, but no thanks. I am not feeling any of his new stuff at all. It’s all cheesy…sad.

  8. LexAve456 Says:

I really like this song much more than I thought I would. It’s a light, pick-me-up kind of song and those never get old. The only thing that I would have changed would have been that there was too much of the female singers on here and not enough of Prince. I love his voice and the more I hear it, the better. Very good song Prince and Happy Birthday to you! God Bless you and your talent and thank you Dr Funkenberry for sharing this song with us!

  9. Nasir Says:

    nice pop tune

on repeat now and loving it more everytime i hear it…..nice fun summer song!

  16. ChrisG Says:

At least my 7 year-old will like this. I guess my expectation level of Prince needs to be adjusted.

  18. Tellushowyoureallyfeel Says:

I like it but I hope it’s not too hot this summer.

  19. Funk Says:

What utter rubbish, I do believe he has run out of idea’s. So, so sad.

  20. CynthiaRose Says:

This SHIT sounds like a theme song for a new television sitcom on the C-FUCKING-W. Someone get me something sharp to stick into my ears.

  21. James Says:

    Terrible.

  22. Luca Says:

i love this cool new track..thanx Prince

  23. masbas Says:

Strike 3 Prince. Purple & Gold, Cause & Effect, and now Hot Summer. Seriously Prince? Losing a bit of hope for you finally after a brilliant career. Bring back some “A” game tracks please.

  24. DJ Crucial Says:

It’s cool, But nothing special. Happy Birthday Prince.

  25. RadicalmanK Says:

hmmmmm. At least its better than the last 2 songs. i agreee with Chris G.

  26. Femke Says:

Not my cup of tea, too poppy, reminds me a bit of Shake! only a not so funky version of it….can’t wait 2 c him in Denmark, France and Belgium though! Happy B-day Prince (althought he won’t celebrate, Jehovahs do not celebrate birthdays…)

  27. Paradise Nubien Says:

Well All I can say is I have listened to the song about 12 time now in a row. Love the song. With so MANY things going on world wide, this is just what is needed. A happie, poppie, cheerfule, positive, up lifting sounding song. A true and fun song too it’s nothing like having a friend that’s got yo back no matter what it is.

Get the convertible out and let’s go for a ride on a hot summer afternoon on the 10 or the 401. Ending at the ocean/beach front with a nice chilled smoothie drink. Hot Summer it is gonna be literally and with Prince. Yeah let’s rock it!!!!! No negative attitudes just have a great time!!!!

    Thank you Dr. F.

  28. Mango Says:

Nice gesture of him to release this on his birthday, but not for me, thanks. It may sound much-much better played live, though. There is always hope. :)

  29. Aprilflower Says:

Thanks for the song P. Are we going to get a new album, US tour, and website soon? Can I call you? Purple love, hugs, and kisses ……Thanks DrFunk for sharing……..

  30. Bohemian Says:

Great song! Liked it instantly :) Catchy, great percussion, voice variation and great theme :) Cool, thanks Prince. Happy B-earth-day to U2. (Not the band of course :)

  31. Gaetano Says:

    Thank U Prince, happy birthday!

  32. JanusDub Says:

Over the years, I had become one of Prince’s harshest critics. My wife cant stand Prince’s music, but as I type this, there she is bobbing her head to his music without knowing its him.

I have to say, this song is nice. It shows the joy in his heart and the liberation in his mind. Congrats Prince. You’ll always be relevant, important and respected.

    Janus

PS, ask Questlove who I am…he knows me well.

  33. scott Says:

I just think there is a wheel in Princes’ car stuck in the 80′s. He is an amazing talent I am truly a fan, but this song has a retro feel…again to his music. I would love to see what he could do if he allows a producer to steer his talents into the current time. Will I Am or someone that can at least propel his abilities where they belong.

  34. Ernest Experience Radio Show Says:

The song is a great little pop ditty. Nothing earth shattering, but it surely beats “Cause and Effect”.

For those in question, it’s Shelby J. bringing the female vocals. She’s been singing with Prince off and on since the Superbowl, at least…and a bit before.

  35. Amorbella Says:

    OH!!!
I’m one of his biggest fans, yet this tune is in the purple and gold category :(
Sorry my purple majesty, I love you, but :( ……. dang!!!

I know he reads these posts, Prince hun, no disrespect

  36. butterfli Says:

Nice lighthearted ditty. We can always count on P to give us some ear candy and today I needed just that. Thanks for the Birthday present.

    peace and blessings

  37. Frits Says:

What a great song .Very catchy very 80 s .I realy looking 4ward 2 his concert in Belgium.Happy Birthday P

  38. Moonpool Says:

    Shoe b do ee !

  39. Christopher Says:

Usually I don’t like that kind of poppy songs, but I kinda like this one,
the melody reminds me of “Shake”, the guitar/synth part and the way Prince sings are cool.
I am not sure it’s gonna be a summer hit but it’s quite listenable compared with Purple & Gold and other Cause & Effect…

  40. Mable Says:

It’s a Bangles “Manic Monday-esqe” throwback. If he had Susanna Hoffs singing lead and a little more melody on the keyboard, it might take off. Happy Birthday Prince. Today is your day and you can release whatever song you want to on your 52nd Birthday. Who are we to judge you? All the hits you’ve put out over your 30 year career. Your entitled to artistic freedom.

  41. LuvinU Says:

Great sound to jump start Summer 2010! Thanks Prince, U take me higher <3

  42. catwomn Says:

I sure was hoping that the word HOT….would mean something along the lines of “When I Lay My Hands On You!”, but unfortunately this song could very easily be played on an episode of Sesame Street!

Did, he REALLY say….”as long as your my companion”…..

    : (

  43. Mr. Goodnite Says:

uhhh,….i don’t think it’s worthy of radio play. sorry prince……i think u’ve lost a lot of u’re creativity. the lyrics are bland & sounds like u’re singing back up vox 4 some chick. it’s pretty boring 2 say the least. get that creative, philosophical juice flowing again! we know its in there somewhere…still u’re number 1 fan!! just being honest

  44. MAYA Says:

    Another mediocre song from Prince…

  45. Purple Hippie Says:

Just in time 4 the summer. I kinda can diggin it. Thank u 4 sharing Dr.Funkenberry. Happy Birthday Prince have a blessed day and njoy. ;-)

  46. redmusenpg Says:

sounds like Gidget singing “I Like it There”. Maybe it will grow on me? *sigh*

  47. O()O Says:

I am not a musician so I do not feel I totally have the right to criticize, but since you asked. This is not a criticism, this is a reflection. I have been listening since 1981. This track, and several others which Prince has released of late seem to be lacking inspiration in my humble opinion. I do not feel HEART in quite a few songs. Quite a few of the more recent songs feel very “poppy”. Kind of like what Prince used to call “Cadillac” albums or song; an album or song that was put out to pay the note on the Cadillac. We all know what Prince is capable of when TRUELY INSPIRED!!! MAGIC! I wish for him a beautiful new inspiration…

  48. Joshua Says:

that song reminds me of “Shake” lol the keyboards in it lol and HAPPY 52nd! lol

  49. hag Says:

summer on valium? sorry, just boring imho. but i haven’t expected more. i think many of his longyear fans are not impressed. the times they are changing….

  50. merce29 Says:

I agree with most of you, that it sounds like, “You Gotta Shake Something” or “I’m The One U Wanna C”. But, that’s cool with me, because it only enforces my point to others, that…it’s as good as the other songs on the radio and he can make songs like that any day of the week. I was tapping my toes this song! If you can go crazy for Oranthi and Keisha, etc., you can enjoy this. Maybe he’s trying to get some of the younger audiences, not just those of us whose been with him since day 1. I know, we want everything Prince resleases to be ground breaking. Just look at this as a gift from his vault, like “Cause and Effect”, because we will probably never be able to buy or download these songs, but we will know they exist! He is trying to give on his birthday, instead of recieving! With all do respect Prince, Happy Birthday!

  51. ChiTown-Jill Says:

Happy Day Of Birth 2 The Man Who Brought Us ALL 2gether As ONE!!!

  52. rubymoon53 Says:

I like Hot Summer. For me, it’s a nice little foot- tappin’, head-boppin’ tune. :-)

  53. Scripterous Says:

    Crap.

Awful. Is this what he’s been working at that lonely old, near abandoned Paisley Park Studios?

Tamborine with snare? He did that on Cinnamon Girl and that sucked. That was 2004/5, its 2010, same shit. Its starting to “sound” as if Prince is doing a Lenny Kravitz – doing the same old crap over and over and over and over again.

No, its not my summer song. No it does not instantly make me happy and all summery. Its lame and Scriptur-y. A perfect make-believe Jehovah Witness song to make his elders or whatever …happy.

  54. love Says:

    LOVE IT!!!

  55. hhcoyote Says:

oh boy, what’s to expect after this track?? dunno ’bout his one …..i’a diehard fan, but i’m not convinced yet….:-(

  56. 4 Real Says:

I can’t help but wonder what this song could have been with input from the girls and without influence from the cult.

  57. A2 Says:

Such irony one of the few artists who produced good music in the 80s makes a song that sounds like a bad 80s track! Prince you are amazing, London Indigo gigs out of this world – what the hell is this? come on you can do soooo much better!

  58. J Says:

    I think this is terrible.

  59. Musgrave Says:

It’s a Light-Hearted song from some one who sounds like they are in Love!!!! I’m not sure if that is a good thing or not…… But the last quality music I’ve heard from Prince was the “Large Room with No Light” remake.

I Would Love an Album of that material.

    ~~ Musgrave – Chicago

PS> And it would not hurt to give Eric Leeds and Sheena Easton a Call. =)

  60. Chocolate_Box Says:

Another masterpiece 4rm U. What a gr8 B-Day gift. It feels happy poppy summery & free. Happy 52 B-Day Princey

  61. Myles Matisse Says:

The song is light and catchy and more of what I’ve come to expect from Prince. He’s on the lighter side of musicality these days and I really, really, really, really think it would inject some deeper, soulful, full instrumentated stylizations into Prince’s music if he were to have an outside producer produce him for ONCE. Who I’d love to see produce him and a full album would be none other than Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Bring in all their old and new synths, a real band, some strings and make a complex, funky, soulful and FULL sounding bunch of songs. With Jam & Lewis’ ears in the mix, it would lift Prince’s songs up to the next level.

  62. Dina Says:

I no likie!! It’s boring to me.

  63. Sharon Monique Rogers Dunworth Says:

    who said prince is dead

  64. Fernando Says:

Awful and uninspired… It is really a shame to hear that shit coming from Prince. I can´t believe it.

  65. nonvocal Says:

    Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . LOL

    I like it.

  66. CherylZ Says:

Thank U 4 the music! Keep em coming! We want more!

  67. maddladd Says:

ok, so i loved it because it’s way better than the “fight” song, and Cause and Effect..

i hate it also because every time i hear the chords in the chorus i think of HOT BLOODED by Foreigner, which is a wayyy better song…i’m just sayin’

Prince, u are way more talented than the “elders” (Larry Graham) would allow u 2 be!! Y waste the years u have left making mediocre material?? if u’ve run out of earth shattering ideas, start remastering those “vault” songs and put them out.. unedited(thankuverymuch)!!

Otherwise, please emancipate yourself from those JW CHAINS and MR.GRAHAM(the man behind the curtain) and get back to making something the world just has to have.. WILL I AM, TIMBALAND, THE ROOTS and so many more artists site u as their inspiration, yet they are all out classing and out performing u.

with MJJ gone (REST IN PEACE,KING) U should be making the music that everyone needs right now.. no auto tone, no b.s. rapping, no bling bling. just a hot album like u used to be able to do at the drop of a hat!! where are those 3 and 4 albums a year u said Warner wouldn’t let u put out??

I’m still gonna wave the Prince flag, I’m still gonna listen to everything u put out, but PLEASE!!!! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!!! make a HOT album, no filler.. a straight 10 or 11 single album and follow it up with a HOT tour!!

I’m done ranting.. it’s just my 2 cents.. and that’s all i have for u!!

    Peace,
    MADD

  68. Joel Jackson Says:

I am a huge Prince fan, and this song is crap. IMHO. I hope this does not reflect his current musical direction.

  69. lekule Says:

    HPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCE!!!!!!!

  70. stacey Says:

ummmmmmmmmmmm, so Prince is a backup singer now?? this song suxxxxxx…. but i won’t hold it against him…

  74. Tiki Coladas Says:

NICE! Slamming song and another POPO GEM from PRINCE!
Bring on the NEW album! I sure hope this track is on it!

  75. 1/2 PINT Says:

WHAT SAY YOU TO THEM, I DON’T CARE!!!?? COME ON LET”S GET UP AND GET SAVED!!! IT IS JUST A DAY TO RECOGNIZE ONE’S BIRTH NOT TO CELEBRATE IT BECAUSE, WE ALL WERE TRULY BORN ONCE, AND WE SHOULD NOT COMMERCIALIZE IT LIKE WE DO EVERYTHING ELSE IN OUR LIVES THAT MAN HAS HIS HAND INTO AND NOT “jehovah,” FIRST AND FARMOST!!!

I SUPPORT ALL THAT YOU DO FOR REAL!!!!!!

    UNFORGETTABLE!!!!!!

  76. Twinkly1 Says:

I like it. Its upbeat and catchy and nicely suited for summer break, yeah!

Hope you enjoyed your day, Prince.

  77. drfunkenberry Says:

    Comment 77

If you don’t like “California Gurls” by Katy Perry, you are most likely not going to like Prince’s “Hot Summer” People are looking for the next “When Doves Cry” instead of just taking it as is; a light poppy tune. Gonna get lynched if I say I like it won’t I?

  78. Todd Says:

So ok, I’m hearing “Shake” and that retro 80′s pop top-40 sound, a la The Cars that he was covering live not so long ago.

Going Randy on you–Eh…it was just ok for me, dog.

Katy v. Prince? Am I gonna be lynched if I say I like Katy’s song better? I just DLed “California Gurls” just because you suggested the comparison, Doc. Otherwise I had no interest in hearing the song. But after listening to both, I prefer Katy.

Ugh, that was hard for me to type.

Think I’ll go listen to “Play In the Sunshine” or “Strollin’” to feel better about myself.

  79. CfromtheD Says:

Love the Ebony photo of Prince.

  80. mr,Goodnight3121 Says:

HOT HOT! HAPPY 52 BIRTHDAY PRINCE

  81. HI Says:

I LIKE THIS SOME FOR SOME RESONS TO DAYS MY BIRTHDAY AND IT IS HIS TO KOOL KOOL AND LOVE THE SOME

  82. HI Says:

    SONG

  83. Christina Says:

I like the song because it’s upbeat and fun. But I must say to you Prince – with love- that the next songs need to have more passion, a stronger vocal performance from you and more energy.. All and all, I happy that you are still with us and alive to continue creating music for us. Thank you for sharing.

  84. went2berklee Says:

I swear that sounds like Janelle Monae on lead

  85. ETMS Says:

    I like it….

  86. Jess Says:

18 and over I wants to bone ya!!!! 319!! come! and pheromone! I want my 90s Prince! Right Back Here in My Arms!

  87. Jess Says:

Sex In The Summer was WAY BETTER I think this is a huge disappointment

  88. jaysonK Says:

Smooth seamless nice groove loose self-contained familiar = sleight of hand/ great stuff

  89. justmemuchlove Says:

    @drfunkenberry Agreed. That all I’m gonna say…

  90. Junglelove Says:

‘Shake’ meets ‘Song of the heart’.
Too smooth for me. I definitely prefer his ‘Rain’ over ‘Summer’.

    Prince, Happy Birthday!

  91. safiya Says:

LIKE the song, not a “wow” song to me, but , will do good in Prince’s summer concert. I prefer prince’s r&b , soul/funk kinda music.this tune is just pop.
Happy Birthday, prince! Thanks for the song present!

  92. Jo55555 Says:

Soo many haters, if you don’t like it – don’t listen !!!!!
I personally think it’s a great wee track, def a grower, but then
I’m just so grateful for anything he puts out, remember he doesn’t have
to, he could just retire and then were would we all be???
Much love Prince, you talent makes me smile everyday. XX

  93. Tobias Says:

never heard something more needless. its a shame prince!

  94. Nigel (London) Says:

If this was P’s first attempt at songwriting if wec were being generous it would be an average result at best. However, remember that we are talking about the man rightly known as the “Minneapolis Genius” here girls and boys and subsequently this just does not make the grade in any way shape or form!!!. It lacks direction and is the sort of lacklustre thing that lazy artists would previously hold back for B-Sides when they needed them. As a long term P admirer I believe that there is no harm in critique-ing his work in a constructive manner. I’m sorry but some of the comments previously suggest a “king’s new clothes” syndrome going down and that’s a shame!!! Still love him to bits though!!! Peace & B. Wild, Nige.

  95. maggiegurl Says:

Thanks for the tune! See you in Arras!

  96. dancedwithhim Says:

I have two points at this:

    1. Maybe he likes what he does when he does songs like that. If so, this stuff will have its listeners, who don´t have to be necessarily past listeners. No problem with that.

    2. Maybe he´s tryin´ to make a commercial hit. If so, I think he´s losing time. He should do what he really feels, without being afraid of charts, sales or whatever. He released ATWIAD after PR, and then Parade, probably his best record ever. He needs to take RISK. And once more I said: please don´t overproduce, don´t fill each second with thousands of notes and voices, just make beautiful tunes, original tunes, unexpected tunes. You know how to do. I´m sooooo sure.

HB Prince. I will always be dancing with you.

  97. controversy12 Says:

It’s a fun tune … It sounds like it could be a song from a movie … something on a soundtrack. Thanks Doc for posting the link

  98. ChrisG Says:

And what is playing in my head the second I wake up this am??? You got it! “…I think it’s gonna be Hot Summer…” ARGHHHH!!! MAKE IT STOP!!! lol Ok, now from another perspective, my wife and I played it for our daughters and they did indeed love it. Turned into a jam session with everyone grabbing instruments and having fun. The 4 year old grabbed the symbol tamborine, the 6 year old jumped on the drum machine, and Daddy was on the Casio keyboard. It was very fun I have to admit. :)

  99. CherylZ Says:

Prince is an artist: a musical genius!
Nobody can argue that point, but it’s funny how people feel that they can tell him what he should do like they know better. He should be able to express himself how he wants whether it’s through his hairstyle, his clothing or his music. Let the man be Prince.
Accept his gift of music and just sit back and enjoy the ride!

  100. Neilliebus Says:

    It’s not very good.

    I mean… it’s a pop song.

It has no spirit. It’s absolutely one-dimensional. It’s by Prince. It sounds like Prince. But… it has no spirit.

  101. douglas Says:

I am just happy he still exists but to my ears, the Eminem track sounds way better.

  102. Joanna Silva Camero Says:

As always Prince has a way of Busting out with new music! Love ” Hot Summer”! Yes my Prince it will be a Hot Summer every time I hear this song!

  103. Andreja Says:

Horror, really mediocre, disapointing, whatever happened to his direction like “Dreamer” or back to the basics of 1988 period. He needs a new blood, and MAceo on horns!! This track will not survive the hot summer, please, please dig out something better from the Vault(s).

  104. nadia Says:

not his best work but not as bad as Purple and Gold LOL (never been so ashamed of being a Prince fan)
This song could have been funkier thus hotter. But catchy tune…..
    still love him tho :0)

  105. Myles Matisse Says:

I’ll say it again, Prince needs an OUTSIDE producer to lend some much needed fresh ears to the mix. If you go old school…Jam & Lewis, Quincy Jones, Maurice White. If you go New School: Timbaland, The Roots, The Neptunes. Prince has been going it alone in the production chair his entire career. It may inject incredible creativity into his songs if he did an entire record with an outside producer at the helm. Plus, it would give him a chance to focus 100% on songwriting, singing and playing guitar.

  106. Tony Says:

I miss when we got a song like “Gett Off” on his birthday. This song sounded so familiar and w/out my music nearby, I believe the music is very similar to “Damned if I do, Damned if I don’t” off of Emancipation. Not feeling any funk from this song and I don’t think that it’ll get much play…from me. Nice to have but he can do this in his sleep.

  107. Joel Jackson Says:

I would love to see him revisit old outtakes like “Extraloveable”, “Crucial”, “Crystal Ball”, etc., remaking them today. He should delve into fantasy interpretations of these “classics” w/ a fantastic multimedia show.

  108. RedZRyder Says:

Not feeling it! I am tired of P taking the Pop music route! There has been no edge lately in his recent output! To me, it’s all been safe, fluffy, Top 40, The Light 106.3 kind of stuff. What happened to that “butterscotch curly hair, wish she had some draws on now” kind of funk?!! I’m looking for the next song that’s gonna A-U-T-O-matically make me go into Funky Face mode! I know he still has it in him! C’mon P! Let’s Do This!!! Quit Playin’!!

  109. Georgie Says:

Hope he plays his bubblegum bongos in Europe cuz ya know what? I’ll be digging it! Ahhhhhh HOT SUMMER!…

  110. margaret kelleher Says:

I will always support anything my prince does because whatever he does he does with pure genius ..
No artist can ever be what prince is to the music idusttrial he taught all muscians how to own up to their rights and breack away from the executives in high places. Prince stood up and changed his name and wore slave across his face and fought for all muscians and they all followed and took back their masters thank u prince for giving us back the real geniuses the musicians who write and produce all music.

  111. Jeanette Says:

Prince, you’re my man for almoust 30 years and eye know, can’t always satify everyone. And over the years there were songs eye liked, songs eye had te grow into and there were songs eye didn’t like at al. Thats normal eye think. But sorry my man, eye have to let you know, the work u let us hear lately it is not you. Maybe you read this and think about the response you get from me. Never te less, Prince you are always in my hart and in my mind what ever you do. Love!

  112. Jeanette Says:

He Prince, you’re my other man for the past 30 years, got my man at home. Think let you know incase my man is reading this too. Oh he’s whispering in mij ear, he knows…….

  113. jasontate Says:

Yeah, this is great fun. Can’t stop playing it.

I think a lot of people have missed the point. It ain’t meant to be deep like ‘joy in repetition’ or ‘Anastasia’, this is exactly what it’s meant to be – FUN !!

    Love it

  114. dancedwithhim Says:

Another producer is another sound… not bad idea… at all… this means perspective…

  115. erykah jenkins Says:

    AWESOME.

  123. Baer Says:

    Dear Prince,

I remember you we’re saying not so long ago, that once in a while you reflect back on your music, on your catalogue. And in 1996 in the Chris Rock interview you said: ‘Willy wants to make new music instead of repeating the old, but Willy also wants to play ‘kiss’ for the fans/friends. Now that’s cool you know, making new music. Love it actually. And of course, you’re live reputation is undeniable, your one of the best performers ever! So for the upcoming event I’m not worried at all, it’s going to be great (Arras)! But now…, the ‘hot summer-song’, whether it’s just a ‘song’ to promote the upcoming events or a serious attempt to include this on the upcoming album, I would like to ask you: WHAT THE F&^%#%^*(K????

Since I became a fan (long time ago) I’ve always tried and mostly succeeded to convince people of your brilliant music. I showed them jazz, pop, soul, rock, and of course funk. So much diversity and so good in quality. Amazing! And Lovesexy 88 live, still can’t believe it, still blows my mind. But prince, I’m scared now to convince myself these days when ‘purple & gold’, ’cause & effect’ and ‘hot summer’ sound out of my speakers.. When you look back at you’re catalogue, how the hell can you create something like this ‘hot summer’ song??? Is it like you’re listening to ‘hot summer’ in your car driving around, then put on “If I was your girlfriend’ or ‘the beautiful ones’ (just to name a few) and think: “YEAH! Allright! Awesome! Different but awesome!”. COME ON!!! (not saying you need to repeat yourself btw but still).

True, it is different, and Willy makes new music all the time, which is great as well. But how can you, in your words; how can you in JEHOVA’s name think that this is great? Now if you create 3 albums at once (like LF, MPLS and Elixer) there are always some great truly great songs (Feel good feel better, amazing especially live @ Jay Leno) among the whole bung of ‘tryout I’m bored but I need some more fillers’-music. Why not re-record ‘grand progression’ and ‘electric intercourse’ with that same passion. But please, stop polishing, stop overproducing, stop Larry-ing! Or at least when you do that, create something like TRC or SOTT. Instead of trying to sound like someone else..

If you don’t wanna sound or sing about sex anymore that explicit, walk around in g-string without a shirt half naked cuz you’re over 50 years, that’s really understandable, logic even. But you might wanna consider to stop making music for 20 year old pop-fans who listen to Lady Gaga crap etc… YOU ARE NOT THE MAINSTRAIM POP ANYMORE. Who cares! You’ve ruled it for at least a decade! Time to move on! ACT like you’re 52, sound like it, whether you look like a 25 year old or not.”

Oh yeah, can’t help it, but whatever crap song you make, there are always some amazing new songs you create and live you’re still unbeatable, So I really can’t help it, although these 3 crap songs in a row: I still got ya back!

  124. Baer Says:

Oh yeah, and I agree with a lot of the other posts. You’re still the man, still nr.1 and you still rule, all love seriously! I just had to give my opinion about the music lately (meaning purple and gold, cause and effect and hot summer).

  125. dancedwithhim Says:

Prince, we know you read Doc, so maybe you could put some words here, maybe we deserve it, after all, very few posts have this impact, we give you so much feedback, and I think this is very helpful to you. Come on, let us know your true point about your work these days.

  136. Andre Gibson Says:

it sound”s like some new spin on the the b52″s or the beach boys prince style

  137. brad Says:

i love u prince but i dont dig this direction at all, u really gotta get back to u’re old self mate, seriously, yep catchy tune but i gotta agree, sounds like the intro for a miley cyrus tv show or something… i gonna say just one thing, reconsider your stance on religion my man.. you are so talented and have let a myth muffle the sounds that made u u!! the god modern day man worships is a plagirism of the god egyption god osiris (and that only one of the plagirisisms)… only say this cuz this is the real truth.. and pretty damn sure thats why u lost that edge that we miss in you so much, dont mean u have 2 write some dirty tracks, not at all, but where has that dirty funky sound gone???

  138. RAP Says:

Kind of reminds me of “Rasberry Beret”….I like it but prefer the much funkier stuff from Prince!

  142. Richard Waters Says:

great song even my 6 year old daughter liked it she was dancing all over the place can not wait for the album

  143. Fernando Says:

It is funny and tender that your 6 year old daughter likes the song. But sadly it has nothing to do with the musical level of the song. If now we are going to judge the new Prince´s works according to the “judgment” of our childrens… Bad signal!!! I guess that your daughter likes also Hannah Montana and the typical things that the 6 years old childrens like. But I thought Prince is (was) considered a musical genius because his music was one step ahead the normal audience. It is supposed that Prince music is much more complex than the usual teenagers pop. I am glad that your daughter likes the song, but I think that we should expect more than that from the new works of a “genius” like Prince.

OMG! I love this!! This will be a great song for the summer and great for me while we are enjoying these last few days of summer and it is sooooo hot! I would love to see this song live, heck I’d love to see Prince live. I wish he would come down this way in Western Kentucky or Southern Illionois, I’d be the first one in line!! I’ve loved his for 20 years. It’s nice to see a light, fresh, catchy tune from him. I love how his music has grown with him. I love and respect Prince as an artist and a man.

  148. Daphne Hernandez Says:

LOL I got so caught up in the song, I forgot to mention the birthday. GOD broke the mold 52 years ago when Prince was born. He has truly given us a gift to be treasured and loved. Prince, my dear, I hope you have a wonderful, Blessed year and that you continue to receive GOD’s grace and wisdom. I know you are so in touch with your spirituality, keep showing all of us how you can find the answers in scripture and change the world. You are such an inspiration for me and so many others. GOD Bless you and keep up the good work…
