Tonight, talk show host Tavis Smiley welcomes ballerina Misty Copeland to his show on PBS.
Copeland has been in the news recently for dancing on stage with Prince during the New York run of his "Welcome 2 America" concerts. Copeland was the object of his affection during the performance of the song "Beautiful Ones".
More about Copeland from Smiley's website:
Misty Copeland is one of the world's top Black ballet dancers. Widely credited as the first African American soloist at American Ballet Theatre—one of the three leading classical companies in the U.S.—she rose to stardom despite not starting ballet until age 13. By age 15, she was winning awards. Copeland joined ABT's Studio Company in '00, became a member of the corps de ballet in '01 and was appointed a soloist in '07. Last year, she was handpicked by Prince to appear in one of his videos and perform during his global tour.
The show airs tonight on PBS. Check local listings for showtimes. No news yet on whether Copeland will make an appearance on stage during Prince's shows in Oakland, CA tonight and tomorrow night. Let's hope so! -Dr.FB
What an NBA All Star Weekend Lenny Kravitz had. Performance time during the actual NBA All Star Game to his song "Come On Get It" being released on I-Tunes, which is the NBA's theme song this year.
Friday night however, Lenny Kravitz was in the studio with Swizz Beatz, and Drake. We are hearing it is more than a late night hang as well! Hmm.
We hope to hear more about it soon. Could you imagine what that track would sound like with Lenny, Swizz, and Drake all together? Man!
For now, you can download the new track from Lenny Kravitz "Come On Get it" on I-Tunes.-Dr.FB
Former PRINCE & The Revolution member Bobby Z. had a heart attack earlier this month. He has since been released and is back home. His former boss has a special treat in mind for him and fans.
PRINCE will be funking up the Oracle Arena next week in Oakland and PRINCE and company are rushing to get a new "Cali4nia" tour book ready for opening night! Tickets are selling fast, so you better hurry.
The shot above taken from the Parade era featuring PRINCE, Bobby Z., & Wendy Melvoin will be in the new version of the tour book. Also, other shots taken at PRINCE's recording studio Paisley Park and his run of sold out shows at Madison Square Garden will be featured as well.
PRINCE & The New Power Generation wants Bobby Z. to come out soon to join the tour and play "Purple Rain" with him.
Prince had this to say exclusively to DrFunkenberry.com;
"Nobody plays drums on the song "Purple Rain" like Bobby. Never flashy or loud, he plays like a slow burn love song. Bobby's way of playing made each live rendition of the song better than the last."
Hopefully, Bobby will be able to play "Purple Rain" soon.
What do you guys think of the photo and PRINCE's comments about Bobby Z?-Dr.FB

Britney Spears new video "Hold It Against Me" premiered tonight..and I am holding it against her. It is nowhere near as sexy as "Womanizer" or "3" for sure.
The product placement of a perfume line, make-up line, a cheesy dating site and SONY everywhere do not help.
Why would I want to see 2 Britney's fight? Maybe other things but not fight. The song isn't bad but is a lackluster first single. The only artist with a more lackluster first single is "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga.
Check out the product placement new video for "Hold It Against Me" above by Britney and let me know what you think.-Dr.FB
So, Esperanza Spalding shocked a lot of people by winning best new artist last night at the Grammys. The girl has talent. Don't tell that to Justin Bieber fans who were so upset that Bieber did not win best new artist, they hacked Esperanza's web site last night.
Yup, they put her middle name as "Justin" hoping that would do something. Not sure what. At least Justin performed at the grammys.
Hoping that Bieber fans don't attack my site, here is his grammy performance in full.-Dr.FB
Congrats to Esperanza Spalding btw. (Ducks, Bieber fans shoes being thrown at him.)
From 2005 til 2008, Prince threw legendary house parties, especially after award shows. Last night, it seems those parties are starting up again.
The guest list for Prince's Grammy Jammy was: Prince, Best New Artist Grammy Winner Esperanza Spalding, Janelle Monae, Will.I.Am, Dave Chappelle, Lenny Kravitz, India Arie, Cyndi Lauper, Nicole Scherzinger, AJ Calloway, and Shaun Robinson.
Well, there is the guest list. Will details follow?-Dr.FB
Update: PRINCE & Janelle Monae brought the sun up at Prince's new L.A. dgs...new "California" dates are coming so he WILL be there for a minute...
Rihanna kicked it off with Adam Levine on piano and then Eminem came out to rap followed by Dr. Dre.
They performed "I Love The Way You Lie" and then "I Need A Doctor" the new Dr. Dre song.
What did you tihnk of the performance? I really hate bleeps. Come on. Would it kill for a clean version just for 1 night?-Dr.FB
P.S., CBS missed one of his "f" bombs during the show regardless.....
