Say what? Cee Lo Green To Open For Prince In NYC, Feb. 7

Prince never ceases to surprise us. His final (?) show at New York’s Madison Square Garden is on February 7th, and today we got the news that opening for him will be Cee Lo Green, the mastermind between the hugely popular song, “F%#k You”.

If you’ve been to a Prince concert in the last several years, you know that Prince doesn’t go for profanity anymore. He even changes the words to some of his classic hits to avoid it.

So now he’s invited the very guy that’s becoming a household name because of it to open for him? See what I mean – Prince is surprising. We’ll have to see if Cee Lo has to put any money in the swear jar by the end of the night.

Prince is a fan of Cee Lo’s – he’s been playing his hit “Crazy” at his live shows for the last few years.

Prince has also been jumping on stage with his opening acts at Madison Square Garden during the Welcome 2 America tour. So which Cee Lo song will Prince join in on? Only the purple one knows… -Dr.FB
UPDATE: ALL OF PRINCE’S SHOWS ARE FAMILY FRIENDLY WITH NO CURSING.
THEREFORE, CEE- LO WILL BE PERFORMING “FORGET YOU” AT THE SHOW.

As a long time Prince fan of over 20yrs I find it very disappointing that he is once again playing more shows in NY and has not planned or even returned to the bay area in over 6-7 years, did he seem to forget that we are one of his largest fan bases?? Very sad… :0(

If Prince wanted to stay among the music star system, he’d probably have more commercial success and of course the corresponding marketing and more visibility.
Prince is doing very good without all this stuff, and I tell more, I prefer it this way, I don´t want to hear him on the radio like lady ga-ga, or gu-gu or whatever. I grew from Prince´s music to other kinds & styles that, in some way could be related to him, and I have certain age (still young though, well forever young I hope), so what I mean is I don’t mind if Prince fades commercially or his concerts are not very crowded. What I expect from him is real music -which I wish could happen more often- and above all I don´t bother to defend his success and I don´t see the point discussing about that.

What a crock of shit Michael is saying. Someone who’s star is “fading” does NOT sell out the Garden. Are sales what they used to be? Obviously not. Not when you not playing the “star machine” that’s played to get a hit. Why Prince isn’t doing that, I have no idea but for someone in his position, he’s doing damn good. Prince is still doing the damn thing and if and when he plays with the “star machine” again, the sales will rise with it but even without it, Prince is doing quite well.

FADE?!!!? Your’e kidding right. This is his 4th sold out show at madison sq. gardens. And he could do it with or without ce-whatever. Prince is over 30 years in the buizness, He does not not need a booster nor are his numbers ”Lagging”.
    Peace.

Prince is a business man. His lagging numbers requires a little booster that he’ll be getting in from an up and coming talent. Prince is a buisness man, and he only cares about keeping himself from the big fade. It will be pointless however. His fade had gone bald.

I understand him being more correct, but I miss the wild Prince… I grew with him.

Nice to know Cee Lo will be part of the show. Glad he’s choosing not to sing it as F you, and keeping it family friendly!

I vote for the classy funny Prince to come back!!!! Why would he wanna act like a dirty old man on stage, it will look sooooooooo stupid. Musicology was my favorite tour so far. He really focused on putting the musicians out front and center! It was a huge party atmosphere with crazy positive energy. Sexed out shows are so OVERDONE Blah blah blah gross.

Did anyone notice that at the back of the NY /NJ Welcome to America tour book he says all praise and glory to the most high. He didn’t say Jehovah.

yeah until he’s humping the guitar or simulating oral on the microphone pole will i believe he’s no longer JW. i’ve been to all the W2A shows and i’ll be at this one. the one show when he sang gingerbread man was crazy! and laying the solid gold guitar on the stage a bunch of us thought he was so gonna jump on the guitar. he did lay on piano………

Prince aint never been a JW. My cousins are JW’s. He goes back and forth with his spirituality like someone with Bi Polar disorder. Actions speak louder than words. Oh and believe Cee lo will sing the album version of his new single HA!

Doc im not suprised at all about this. I believe that Prince is no longer a Jehovah Witness. It is obvious to see the changes in him lately. He used to wear tailored suits on stage that covered his, you know what lol Now he is wearing tight pants and no underwear and you can see everything jiggling around! Along with an open shirt exposing his chest hmmmm. His choice of songs are getting racier. I think he is out of the faith. Expect more stuff like this. There are no rules anymore if that is the case. Cee lo will probably let the F bomb out too.

Cee lo’s falsetto always reminds me of Prince’s. Plus Cee lo does a owa scream in his hit song “f U”. Good choice Prince. I know Cee lo is on cloud 9 about now….
