Prince Ordered To Pay $4 Million Over Funky Smell

Ahhh. The smell of celebrity perfume…and the lingering lawsuits that follow.  Prince’s 3121 scent distributed by Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics left them with a funny smell.  So much so they sued the music superstar and Prince is being requested to pay close to $4 million dollars for damages.

Why was Prince requested and not ordered to pay $4 million?  Read More>>>>

Another judge will have to approve that Revelations is due the $4 Million.  They were trying to sue for another $3 million on top of that but won’t get it.  The company says that Prince did not follow through with promotional appearances on Oprah, or other avenues to advertise the cologne/perfume for them.  He wouldn’t even give them a new photo of himself they claimed.

We remember Prince spraying the perfume for fans to smell at his 3121 club in Las Vegas at the time and….it didn’t go over too well.  I remember when we got a few bottles, we sprayed it on each other and the scent would change.  Granted, the scent was still something my grandmother would wear over myself.  A friend of mine wears it to strip clubs and says the dancers like it.  I’m sure it is because every other customer wears Drakkar instead and they liked the change.

A little inside information that I am aware of and that I want to pass on;  Prince wanted to do Oprah in 2008 to promote a book he put out called 21 Nights and would talk about the perfume for a minute or two.  Prince was hoping that the book could be part of Oprah’s Book Book Club, but was denied.  If I remember correctly, Oprah did want him on her show, just not at that time.

Aside from 3 shows he did in Minneapolis on 7-7-07 and a feature on Entertainment Tonight, there was not really much promotion for the 3121 perfume.  3121 the music.  A great CD.  3121 the perfume?  Well, the CD is great.

It just goes to show, even if you are rock royalty, not everything comes up smelling like purple roses.-Dr.FB

Diagnosis:  Eternity Is What I Like My Woman To Wear……

UPDATE: We have been contacted by a source stating that the contract was for a “reasonable” fulfillment.  Prince promised 2 things to Revelations; a show for Macy’s and to be on a talk show.  The talk show that Prince wanted to do could not accommodate him so that was out of his control.   The attorneys are losing the case due to negligence.

We are being told the fact is that Revelations did not know how to handle an A list celebrity.  They did not have the skills or clout and the know how to put the product out.  They are a very small company that misjudged the costs involved.  They were in the red and expected Prince to bail them out when they were 1 million in the hole.

Prince wanted to include the perfume in another venture but were sued before that could go any further.

We have reached out to Prince’s management team for an official statement but none have been returned at this time.

Sounds good Chocolate_Box777 but unfortunately that is not the whole truth. Truth is that the industry ( all sectors), mainly to do with business are corrupt. For example, that is why Prince came out with the album The Rainbow Children, & spoke about ” YOUR FAMILY NAME “. Because a person can simply use your name to sign papers for you, or as if the were you. Does not matter if you are AN ” A ” LIST celebrity, PRINCE or not. The NET is corrupt. Music industry is corrupt. Media PARENT companies definitely monopolize the whole board, and charge us all a fee for making us feel like we are stealing. It is very deep. You can simply buy someones name. Even Prince name. He does not exclusively own it. And you don’t own your name, because if you did you would be able to use it as a website domain name for your personal business. But you can’t do that, you can only register that name if you are fortuitous enough to even do that (and rent it). This excerpt is deeper than a 4 million $ lawsuit. Prince did 4 MILL at Coachella in one NIGHT SINGING ANOTHER GROUPS SONG*!!!! SO PRINCE IS GOOD!! ITS THE SYSTEM THAT IS RAPING
    ITSELF!

If he would have landed on Oprah. That would have put sales of the 21 nights book & the perfume 3121 over the roof. It all makes more sense now. Because it seemed to me Prince abandoned the perfume & the book. But I kind of understand now how Prince operates. If one thing don’t through right with his projects, he abandons them & moves to the next one.

I found out some interesting info regarding this case. What I could share, I added to article.

I am sure some people are going to say I am defending Prince again. The fact of the matter is it is a good tip from a very reliable source. Those that have a problem with it, it says a lot more about you than me.

O and 4got comment about the book……I got the book as well ($50) — waste of money the only good part was the CD.

I don’t blame Oprah for declining to put it in her book club. It was boring. However, I saw an interview she did with Prince and did not like her demeanor — I am suprised he went back to her. I remember one of the first thinhs she said to him was oh how “pretty” you look…..it seemed to me she was treating the interview as a joke or something —

I bought the collective box set (perfume+cream in velvet purple box). Honestly, it reminded me of perfume my grandmother would wear……floral/lilac scent. I used it more as a room freshener and latter gave it away.

I remember a few weeks after I picked it up I went back to the same Dept store and saw a trove of the stuff still on the counter…….i said to the sales lady guess it’s not a hot seller n she said nobody knows who he is and she showed me other celeb perfumes that w
    Were actually good.

If u have not smelt Beyonce, Heat give it a wiff, ya baby. Others that r good Paris Hilton, MC, Britney JLO…..with really good stuff out there…..who needs 3121?
