The news we hinted at earlier this week, can now be told. Mayte Garcia along with Nicole Murphy, Jessica Canseco, Sheree Fletcher, and Andrea Kelly will star in a VH1 Reality show.

The show has a working title of “Hollywood Exes” and follows the 5 women on their journey without their famous husbands and ex-lovers.

The series will star Nicole Murphy (ex-wife of Eddie Murphy – 13 years), Jessica Canseco (ex-wife of Jose Conseco – 4 years), Sheree Fletcher (ex-wife of Will Smith – 3 years), Mayte Garcia (ex-wife of Prince – 3 years), and Andrea Kelly (ex-wife of R. Kelly – 12 years).  “Hollywood Exes” will premiere in the summer of 2012 with 10 one-hour episodes.

For more on the show, click the continue reading button.

These five women, who have all been friends for years and in some cases for as long as 20 years, want to show the world they are more than just a trophy wife with a pretty face.  They want to establish themselves as independent, successful women and bring relevance and honor to themselves separate from their very famous exes…even if there is a little drama along the way.

“These extraordinarily strong women adjusted to and endured a lot while their ex-spouses won fame and fortune defining pop culture for that moment,” said Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President, Original Programming & Production, VH1.  “Now these women must re-invent themselves again, stepping out of the long shadows cast by their famous husbands and supporting each other as they define the next stage of their lives – this time on their own terms.”

“Hollywood Exes” is executive produced by Jen O’Connell, Nick Emmerson and Lisa Shannon and Lamar Damon are co-executive producers for Shed Media. Vernon Lynch and Jeff Dyson for Lynch-Dyson Entertainment also serve as executive producers.  Jill Holmes, Tom Huffman and Jeff Olde are executive producers for VH1.

Mayte was the best female to ever dance with Prince, even better than Cat. A great dancer not only embodies rhythm, but dances with her eyes. I don’t watch reality shows but to get a glimpse of Mayte’s dancing I will.

Reality shows like this interest me because if they actually capture some of these women’s “reality”, maybe we’ll get an honest glimpse into what it was like to be married to such mega-stars. Trust. It ain’t easy. Being a man, I’ve had a glimpse into what it could be like having dated a somewhat successful music artist for a few years. It’s a job and a half. Most woman would go the route that these 5 women did in hooking up with their successful men, especially because when each of them genuinely were attracted to these men for more than their $$ and fame. I’ll watch the show cause I’m interested in all these women’s story and where they are now and what lessons they’ve learned by having had those $$$ men. I guarantee they’re all in a happier, more relaxed place.

    @ angela
What career did Mayte have? Whoever heard of Mayte before Prince? And who even knows who Mayte is today except for Prince fans? Personally i am not a fan of either of their’s and this show just proves how thirsty these women are for fame. Ladies, not everyone is meant to be a household name, move on, move on, move on. Btw Manni and Eric deserve each other, disgusting, lord knows how they would survive w/o that Prince money, 2 gold digging whores! Eric smelt that Prince money on Manni!

Prince is on the line with his lawyers as we speak.

Mayte NEVER got divorced from Prince, the marriage wasnt legal to begin with as he was under the symbol when they did get married, so she got a settlement but nothing like the press have reported, she doesnt get an allowance each month either, Manuela “gold digger” testolini got the house in Toronto, a huge settlement and an allowance each month…….mayte had a career on her own merits before she met Prince, Manuela was a receptionist at Paisley Park…..

These women are delusional, why are they complaining about anything. Like someone just posted, they were paid huge alimony payments after their lawyers negotiated a divorce settlement from their ex-husbands, got more money than they deserved and are truly worth. Prince probably did have her sign a non-disclosure agreement and it’s laughable when last year Mayte went to her FB page to cry to her fans because Prince made her pay full price to see his W2A concert in L.A. Then made a big fuss, that she had to be “approved” to see Prince. I lost a lot of respect for Mayte and if Prince is smart he’ll avoid Mayte and anyone close to her, because VH1 will use every angle to exploit Mayte’s association with Prince.

Do you really think that either Nicole or Mayte is going to give you any details about their ex? Trust they have signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement prior to signing on the dotted line with VH-1. Believe that! Don’t expect too much. They are trying to create a name for themselves with the famous ex names. Hmmmm!

I don’t think they are going to bash or focus on their ex husbands. Everyone knows they were married to these stars so why drag it out. The series seems to be focusing on the fact these women are more than just golddigging trophy wives. I will watch because it’s intriquiging to see these strong women stive for success on their own, without the help of their famous spouse.

not if she signed a confidentiality agreement and got paid for it. i don’t think anyone is worried about how her actions are going to effect prince.

not sure how prince fans are going to react to this? i think they will be worried she will paint prince in a negative light by her actions on the show. i hope she doesn’t face back-lash for doing it. good luck to her though, she should be allowed to say and do whatever she wants.

I soooooo agree with Johnny’s post. If they had any type of real talent, then they wouldn’t need to or want to be associated with a reality show of being someone’s ex-wife. Way to aim high ladies.

“These extraordinarily strong women adjusted to and endured a lot while their ex-spouses won fame and fortune defining pop culture for that moment”

I seriously do not get this.
They got married to famous and very rich men, lived a great life together for a few years, then got divorced for whatever reason, and got an incredible settlement and monthly allowances for the rest fo their lives when they divorced only a few years later, usually taking half of their partners fortune that they had gathered and worked hard for, long before they met and long after they divorced.

I am sure most of them are incredible talented on their own and might well also become famous based on their own incredible talent, beauty or other skills but why are they complaining?

And especially, why complaining for being given a few years in the public spotlight thanks to being married to a super famous person.

Thanks to that spotlight they become really famous which they most likely would not have been in the same way if they had not been married to a mega super star.
Hopefully they will all be able to use that “being married to famous person” fame to get more attention to their own skills, craft, talents once the marriage is over,

Will i be watching? Um, No! For one another reality show. Reason number two, none of these women are relevant in my world, so no reason to watch.
