American Idol Drops Ball Not Having Adam Lambert On Queen Night

American Idol, trying to catch its Adam Lambert versus Kris Allen glory days, had a Queen night that did not feature Adam when it was obvious they really needed him.

Queen was there to see the top 6 perform their songs…..and what was missing was Adam Lambert with Queen to show them how it is done.

I watched the top 6 perform….and their are a couple of good voices but this season is lacking….and it needed an Adam Lambert to propel the show and make people care about it again.  People can argue numbers with me but Idol is not what it once was.

Adam may have finished 2nd in Idol the year he was on, but he was the true winner.  In hindsight, he is the real Idol.  The American Dream so to speak.

The good news is that Adam will be everywhere.  He just recorded AOL Sessions and will be on Jimmy Kimmel tonight.  He is also slated to be on Idol later this season.  There is NO reason, however, that he could not have been performing with Queen last night.

When I think of the top 3 on Idol, I think of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Adam Lambert.  He didn’t even win the show but we know why, don’t we middle America?   The Glamberts know, we know, and Adam knows and he is starting to talk about it just a little bit more.

The Voice and X Factor would not have dropped the ball having Queen on without Adam Lambert.  Idol was the show that started the singing contest craze, and when you do not have one of your own on to give him shine and on a season that has been lackluster and him having a new CD out, wel,l we know Simon Cowell is somewhere smiling, rooting for Adam and looking at those Idol ratings go down again for another week.-DocFB

In honor of an extraordinary band, with top status in the music industry for over 30 years, it would have made simple sense to have Adam Lambert join them. This would have made AI the #1 show in America again–even for just a single night. IMO… Adam has proven to be one determined young star-with endless energy-and perseverance. He will rise. The “Show Must Go On” and with Adam more than welcome around the world-he will be part of it-world-wide! Listen to his new songs, check out his long history of incredible performances, take the time to learn about his mind/and heart, and the wonderful family he is fortunate enough to be from. Take the time to ask a fan-a loyal one, why they continue to beileve in Adam Lambert’s STAR POWER. Queen does!

Eat Crow all of them! I hope Simon is doing just that! How can Randy sit there and say the best he has ever heard to each Queen song…you know Adam is in the back of his mind…guess keeping his job is more important then his honesty. It was an embarrisment to Queen and Freddie…#NOMOREAMERICANIDOL…#SEARCHWASOVERINSEASON9!!

Someone could have at least mentioned Adam, but their mission obviously was to be cheerleaders for those kids. Some good talent there, but nobody really grabs me. The way the contestants butchered those legendary Queen songs was painful and made me realize that it takes a unique voice to do those songs justice.

Adam Lambert is the American Idol!
Have too much to say, cuz it’s all bunched up in my heart. & I think I’ll just keep it there, with Adam Lambert!

Idol is trying desperately to convince us that Season 11’s contestants are all as good as or better than Adam Lambert. Having him on the show would have irreversibly proven them wrong. There is no universe in which they would have considered having Adam on the show to school the current batch of singers. And besides, Adam has more important things to focus on. He will be on Idol in a few weeks when his focus will be his own music rather than Queen’s.
This year does have a great batch of talent. But the judges and producers are going overboard to convince us they are the most talented most original performers ever in the history of the show. They are wrong and their continued efforts to confuse us with smoke and mirrors only reveal how desperate they are.

Very interesting write-up and comments. I thought a couple of the gals really stepped up and were marvelous. Betting Adam too busy right now, but also seems that Queen is promoting their extravaganza show which is touring the U.S. I guess that is also why right now that all the Queen/Adam performances are going overseas.
I will never, ever forget Adam with Queen on the Am. Idol Finale. The best performance I have ever heard on American Idol. Clearly Adam shown on that, with his fine vocal ability. As to the voting: I think there was more than prejudice involved. I know I couldn’t get through to even vote. I have my suspicions…better left unsaid. Adam will always be the real winner to me, in more ways than one. Moving on now…

ITA! Most of show was painful to watch last night. Needed Adam for Idol Queen night! He killed it singing lead for Queen for the finale of MTVEMA’s! Highlight of last night was the ET promo for the Idol show that exclusively featured Adam and Queen and mentioned he is the new front man of Queen!

Adam Lambert is was and in a whole different league. In him i find my hero, my music champion. I don’t have the need to watch American Idol, it is dead for me.

Finally someone who isn’t afraid to write the truth…Thank-You for this wonderful article…An artist like Adam Lambert only comes around once in a while and when they do the music industry needs to stand and take notice for today’s music is not like it used to be…Turn on the radio and close your eyes while listening from one song to the next they all sound the same…Then as soon as one hears Adams amazing voice suddenly they are mesmerized and in awe…The music industry is in a downward spiral they need Adam Lambert to turn that around along with giving him the recognition and respect he so deserves

I love Queen but had to change the channel last night. It was painfully bad. American Idol totally dropped the ball.

I agree that Adam appearing with Queen on Idol would have sent the ratings up but he has a busy tight schedule. Besides, promoting his album takes priority over performing with Queen on Idol. I wouldn’t say the contestants are lacking in talent, just that they are not Adam and let’s face the fact, that Adam is one in a gazillion, so it’s an impossible feat for anyone to try to outdo him or outshine him!

I agree mostly because I want to see Adam on everything. He is, in my opinion, the most talented and versatile Idol EVER with Kelly Clarkson second. It wouldn’t have been fair to the contestants to have him sing with Queen last night. He would have stolen the show and no one would have cared about the others.

Word is that Adam will performing on Idol on May 17th performing his new music, so I guess Idol didn’t want to have him on twice…pity…I agree, they desperately needed him.

You are right. Call out AI on this one. He was/is superlative. Something we hadnt seen before. And unlike Kelly and Carrie (who are great singers) he was more “left field”. He was contending with the resistance to “something different” but he was so good, that people just had to sit up and notice.

“People can argue numbers with me but Idol is not what it once was” – most of the viewers in the past two series are watching because they’re fans of one judge or find the car crash that is the two new judges in the live shows funny. In terms of sales numbers, the only two successful and relatively successful contestants over the past two years are in a genre that would sell even if it were a record of them eating chips to a Country backing.
