John Mayer has made many songs with ex-girlfriends as inspiration. Taylor Swift made a song about Mayer entitled “Dear John” and he is not happy about it.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine, John says he feels “humiliated” and that it was a “lousy” thing for Swift to do.

“It made me feel terrible.”

“Because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”

The song in question is “Dear John” released in 2010 on her “Speak Now” album and while John was taking a hiatus from things.

The lyrics in question are:

“Dear John, I see it all, now it was wrong / Don’t you think 19 is too young to be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?

John stated “I never got an e-mail. I never got a phone call,”

“I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you’ve ever been, someone kicked you even lower?

When asked about the song’s line, “Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with?” Mayer says, “I don’t want to go into that.”

“I will say as a songwriter that I think it’s kind of cheap songwriting,” he says. “I know she’s the biggest thing in the world, and I’m not trying to sink anybody’s ship, but I think it’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ‘Wait till he gets a load of this!’ That’s bullshit.”

We have a feeling John talking about it will make Taylor write another song about him. We wonder if right now she is somewhere grabbing her chest and saying “me? Oh my gosh!” in surprise.

The lyrics and music are posted below.  What do you think of the song and John’s reactions?-DocFB

Is it just me or does she sound different on the sad, heartfelt songs? Like last kiss, dear john, haunted, etc. Like her voice is all scratchy or something from emotion maybe.

Seriously John! I’m disappointed that you even listened to anything that hack so-called “artist” records. I can understand hittin’ it and quittin’ it, because she seems to be a pretty vacuous person. But I wouldn’t give 2 shyyts about what she writes or thinks. Put that in your rear-view, and NEXT time, choose your tail more wisely. Dayum!!!

Oh Pleeeeeze John! Get over it! Nothing like a woman scorned LOL! You’re a big boy and not innocent yourself. My question is ……..which one has an album to sell right now? This is a great way to get your name in the press.

Writing about life experiences is quite normal, but slandering people is out of line. All of her songs are about guys that she’s been with and often she’ll mention them by their real name or a defining characteristic that everyone knows about. It is tacky and classless. I personally don’t like John Mayer either, but he’s a human being and deserves at least a modicum of respect and privacy.
