Sigh. I really wanted Adam Lambert to be the next “American Idol” judge but if Nick Jonas gets the job, I won’t totally be mad.

Nick tweeted over the weekend:

“The rumors are true… I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol.”

#nickonidol started trending almost immediately.

The reason I like Nick Jonas, aside from his solo record, is because of him trying to bring constant awareness to Diabetes. Nick is a diabetic, as I am. Not many people know about the conditions of diabetes and what goes along with it. I look healthy on the outside but for the past few months…my feet have been in constant pain. I try to get the word out about Diabetes but if Nick had that platform, he could be doing a lot to bring even more awareness to the cause.

What do U think of Nick Jonas being a judge on American Idol?

Why didn’t you mention Adam’s causes? It never ceases to amaze how media ignores everything Adam has accomplished and all the good he has done, the blatant snub that the industry has for Adam is obvious, Levine was right, American Idol is homophobic because to pass up the most exciting thing to ever come off of idol is the dumbest thing they could ever do and only one reason I can think of, America is homophobic!

I had to come back and make another comment. If you think it’s a good idea to get Jonas cause out there then why not mention Adam’s causes he’s been involved in so many charity causes and not been recognized for his efforts. People like JB get recognized for giving his money. I think Nick should do his campaign outside of AI if he is a judge and not do what other judges have done and use it as a platform. This is not their job it’s too judge talent.

Nothing against nick Jones, but what in the world does a 19 yr old have any business being a judge? Sick or not? Adam Lambert is the only way I will continue watching after never missing an episode. If Nick gets this over Adam, that’s it for me!

Like I said, if I had to choose, it would be Adam. Nick would not bring awareness say on the judge’s panel but like J.Lo, would garner attention for outside ventures.

I don’t think Nick Jonas’ being a diabetic qualifies him to be a judge any more than Adam’s being gay would. The job for American Idol is JUDGE and that is what I want. Someone who has knowledge. The last two years have been dismal failures because the ‘judges’ had no ability to do the job. If Randy stays the lineup would be ‘Dawg’man, diabetes platform and the diva. Why watch?

Hmmm…don’t get your reasoning. Why would AI be a soap box for diabetes awareness? That’s like saying Adam should be a judge because he’s gay! Diabetes has nothing to do with judging music & a talent show shouldn’t be an infomercial. Sorry-Jonas is a bad choice-I’d go with Lambert all the way. He’s smart, funny, savvy, and HONEST. AI needs something to bump interest & Jonas isn’t it.

Make no mistake about it, I want Adam Lambert as well. My reasoning has nothing to do with music. JLo was not a good judge but used it as a platform for people to care about her again. I would be hoping that Nick would be using the platform as judge to get the word out is all.

I don’t get your reasoning about Nick being a judge what has his illness do with being a good judge of talent. This guy is 19 yrs old he hasn’t lived long enough to judge anyone’s talent. He hasn’t had any formal voice training and was a member of a very young boy band how is that criteria for being on a judge panel? If he is on that panel the show will be doomed. He’s a has been and totally irrelevant in today’s music business. He’s definitely not qualified. When will producers get it right with the judges. Since Simon and Paula left the show is fake and now focuses on judges and not contestants. If they don’t find judges that will ignite a spark and make people want to tune in they should not pick Nick or Pharrell or Brad Paisley. I know there are several other choices but don’t know any other than Adam Lambert that could save this show.

Just because he’s sick doesn’t mean he can be a good judge. what about the quality and all the criteria of American Idol show? there used to be sitting the best judges of all time on that show and create world star Idol!!! this decision of making Nick Jonas is ABSURD!!!
