After iHeartradio Meltdown, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Checks Into Rehab For Substance Abuse

A rep for Green Day has confirmed that Bille Joe Armstrong has checked into rehab for substance abuse. This comes 2 days after a meltdown on stage at the iHeartradio music festival.

They are cancelling some upcoming promotional appearances for ¡Uno! which is set for release this Tuesday.

During the now infamous meltdown, Billie Joe curses everyone from Usher to Justin Bieber for the festival cutting the band’s set short.

There is no time table for how long Billie Joe will be in rehab.-DocFB

I can understand why he was so pissed to have his set cut by 20mins is harsh. The statement said the time wasnt cut but I cant imagine he’d have reacted like that for no reason. As for going to rehab that is PR BS to try and react to this situation. Personally I’d have just left him to it, he is in a rock band let him act like a rockstar occasionally.

Billie does not need rehab, he just needs more time 2 play! Now U know what u can do in 1 minute, crash your guitar… And look at the bass player, he brokes his bass 2… Maybe trying 2 simulate it was planned?

    Nice gig, audiende 2 cold.

While I don’t blame Billie for being upset and even going off a bit about having his set cut short, I’m suprised someone at his level and experience in the industry would lose it so completely. As for checking into rehab, that seems to be the way the PR machine handles matters with celebrities having a bad day. In order to do damage control, they release the stereotypical statement that so and so has gone to rehab. Whatever, dude. He doesn’t need rehab. Maybe some rest, but more than that, Billie just needs other artists on a festival roster to hold tight to their performance schedule out of respect for everyone else that comes after them. Looks like some performers at the festival dropped the ball. I’m glad Billie called them out for their F-ing up schedule.
