Her vocals are getting in the way of the New Generation ‘Madhouse’ track.

I so have to agree with Terri Walsh.

The song is funky, the musicians are funky, the horns are funky, Ida is funky …. Andy is … well there to fill out some blanks in the video.

I thought Bria Valente and Prince was bad ….. Now I know it could get worse.

Still probs to the musicians for making it funky

Curious. Are there letters overlaid on the 1st “L” and the 1st, 3rd and 4th Es–? What do they spell, if anyting?

Also, the title “People Pleaser” contains all the letters of Allo’s name, peOpLe pLeAser (spelled backward), why are those letters not highlighted rather than the overlaid letters? Just curious.

I like the video its a teaser itself. the hornz are great and Allo’s “snapshots” are cool.

It is a great song but the video has a low budget feel. The way it is cut and the lipsynching and horn-synching are all a milli-second behind the music. Also I tend to agree with previous comments from Terri, Myles and Booyah.
Andy is still so young, she has so much time ahead to develop her own musical style. I wish her all the best and that this Prince project will help her grow and find her own path.

The music is great. This is so little about Andy and i can see why …. ‘Allo Evolution’….and the first record is about being too nice? lolololol Are you kidding me?

This girl appears as though she’s never shed a tear in her life lololol….why would we be interested in her ‘evolution’ there’s no ‘there’, there…vocally the song gets boring because there’s nothing behind the words…no emotion, no real truth to tie the album title to the first single…and she sings each verse the exact same way…so after awhile I’m wanting to see more Ida…

The band stands out here as well they should, its the best band on the planet. There’s nothing really tying Andy to the band…and it’s hard to believe these people backing this girl up. Andy gets lost, and is even more out of place because they are PHENOMENAL, and she kind of gets in the way, and just doesn’t have the skill or emotional presence and ‘weight’ to keep up.

The lyrics are good but really need someone that can put some emotional heft behind the words…

Leela James could kill this record and could hold her own with this band. Mary J Blige could nail this too in her own way and it would be spectacular.

    Andy Allo just isnt funky.

To start with, is this a music video spotlighting Andy Allo OR the massive horn section, which got just as much screen time, if not more. Personally, I wasn’t too down with the horn section being filmed separately and think it would’ve had a better look and feel if Andy and horns were in the same shot with them maybe behind her and split up on either side. That would’ve been much better.

Also, get that NPG logo OFF the stage floor. NOT cool. This is Andy Allo, NOT an NPG side project. WTF? Matter of fact, I really think it’s time to retire the “New Power Generation” name and logo, man! It’s been going around since the “Graffiti Bridge” days and nowadays is anything but NEW.

I could see John Blackwell was up to his usual drum trickery. He looked good. I just thought his playing was a bit too cool, meaning I’m kinda down with Hannah Ford’s more energetic style of playing/looking.

Back to the horn section and video direction. Way too many shots of the horn section WITHOUT Andy in the frame. Bad move. THIS…IS…AN…ANDY…ALLO…VIDEO. Whoever storyboarded and shot this should remember that with the next video(s). Cool? Cool!

Funky track, not at all like Andy’s first cd, which makes her another Prince make-over as he finds a voice for his Girlsongs/Camille tracks…why not just record it yourself, the lyrics seem very much about where Prince is at these days, not Andy… I know this isn’t reportedly one of the 3 tracks Prince co-penned, but it sure sounds like it is…maybe his arranging and producing it could have taken it there, but there are so many tracks uncredited on the sleeve that he wrote in the past it makes me suspicious… And I’m not saying I don’t think she’s talented, she is and this is bore out on her first cd and her other stuff floating around the net. Trouble is, and I hate to say this, but for some reason Prince’s side projects usually tend to go nowhere, often despite how great they are…I don’t need to list them as everyone reading this knows what I am saying, but it’s like “enjoy the ride, Andy, as this is going end badly…” Prince sounding tracks work best with the general public when Prince is on lead…and this track would have been even more stellar on a Prince album….nice of him to give it away (if he did indeed write it as I suspect), he gives alot of great ones away…now how about a Prince cd of tracks he gave away? it could start with The Dance Electric and end with Superconductor! ANyway, hope I’m wrong, it sounds great, so….

Dap to the team for getting out the dream. I’m hoping for a run of smaller venue shows. I don’t think the NPG Music Club logo in the video was for nostalgia. I think he just might bring it back. I was a member and would do so again. Prince more than gave me my money’s worth with allowing members to attend rehearsals and participate in Q & A’s was incredible. That and witnessing “Paisley Park” performed at an aftershow with full band is a moment of joy I will never forget. If he performed full albums, now THAT would be magical and some of the most sought after Prince tickets in history. If he did “Around The World In A Day” I would easily pay $1000.00 or more to witness that performance. Hundalasiliah !

On the Positive: The Video Actually came out in FULL before the CD is out
AND YOU can watch it FOR FREE on YouTube like An ACTUAL PROMOTIONAL TOOL: Revolutionary

    Constructive Criticism:

We have all said that while the song may be decent and Funky it is not really indicative of Andy’s Style.

The main SELLING POINT of the Song and the only thing that gives it some MUSICAL “Street Cred” is Trombone Shorty & Maceo Parker. How do you make a performance based video and NOT FEATURE THEM? Even If their solo’s had to be shot on another location they still should be in the video even if its brief. If Maceo can be in a DEE-LITE Video, then surely he can be in “People Pleaser”

A simple and effective way to grab attention would be to just have Prince Grinning at the Mixing board or behind the Camera pretending to direct. A cameo at the end of the video like in “Time Waits 4 No One”

There should have been some establishing shot like Andy & Band going to “a rehearsal space” or better yet, show the outside of Paisley as a teaser. Something for the fans.

Now I realize the reason he did not do the last two listed things is because Andy wants to stand on her own. However if You are going to Use the NPG as your band then you mind as well go all the way.

Leaving the NPGMC carpet is nostalgic and makes me remember the Love 4 One Another room. Back in the day I would have thought He was bringing the Music Club back and this was some sort of Clue. Now, I have been around him too long and realize he was just too lazy pull up or cover of the rug.

Chris Robinson and Sanaa Hamri are both well respected Directors in the Music scene. While they are both friends of Prince there was no reason to get people of their caliber to make a video like this. The Video picks up a little steam at the end with the words flashing. They should have used this earlier in the video along with SOME OTHER TYPE of ACTION, jokes or something!!!

At the Very Least They could have included more sexy/pouting/camera mugging shots of Andy Allo

    Oh Well…..

I am still very excited for the CD and everything else on the record is closer to Andy’s Style
    November 20 …….. We R Here Where R U

Now, where is the “Rock & Roll Love Affair” Video?

Love it (apart from the cringeworthy “Jeah” at the beginning…), but I realized the other day that as much as I like this horn section, the song was recorded in the studio with the Hornheadz, Maceo Parker and Trombone Shorty, so in the video these guys are simply miming along to other people’s playing, making them the Milli Vanilli of horn players…
