"Looking Back On Love", the brilliant documentary on the making of Lenny Kravitz's "Black & White America" album has officially been released on I-Tunes. The director Mathieu Bitton couldn't be happier.
"I am elated about the fact that the film is finally out. It's been a struggle to get it released but now I feel is the perfect time to - as the title suggests - look back on this amazingly rich experience."
"This film to me, is about the colors and characters of life, through a musical experience. It's a record of talent and travel. A fantasy for many that was a laborious work of love and passion for us. And the response I am getting has really made it worth the wait."
"I'm happy people are finally seeing the level of Lenny's talents and the multi-instrumentalist and funny and wise man he is."
So far, the doc has reached #5 on I-Tunes sales as Bitton is hoping for a DVD release later this year, possibly a Director's Cut version.
Bitton is staying quite busy as he is working on the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of "Are You Gonna Go My Way" and is working of his first retrospective show and catalog with Bui Gallery at a John Lautner mansion in LA Feb. 18th.
Along with that, Mathieu's official web sites mathieubitton.fr and mathieubitton.com will launch Feb. 15th. He also designed the just released Teena Marie "Beautiful" album and the Marvin Gaye "Trouble Man" 40th Anniversary expanded deluxe edition.
If that isn't enough, he is planning to bring the film to festivals in china, India, Europe and around the US and has a feature story he shot of Raphael Saadiq in the next issue of Rolling Stone Russia. He shot videos and stills for campaigns with Lenny such as Eleven Paris and the NFL.
Upcoming projects include James Brown 50th Anniversary Best of Live at the Apollo and a new Jane's Addiction record. Mathieu is an artist on the rise.-DocFB

Bobby Z. formerly of PRINCE & The Revolution joined DrFunkenberry & Seth Everett on our weekly Spreecast last week to talk PRINCE and take questions from the fans, where nothing was off limits.
If you can avoid being distracted by my hat, you will get a look at PRINCE that only Bobby Z. would know about.
Bobby shared with us after being asked by a fan that PRINCE played drums on "Head" and "Darling Nikki" and almost everything up until 1986.
Bobby called PRINCE "The greatest entertainer that ever lived.
Click HERE if video is not showing above
Also in the spreecast, which you can watch in it's entirety above, Bobby discussed that PRINCE was always first with technology and Bobby implemented a lot of digital drums and triggers on stage.
Bobby feels PRINCE is a better musician than in 1984 and he keeps getting better ("Still got momentum" "Still moving forward")
Prince Bobby and Roger Linn of the Linn drum invented the INTERFACE so the Linn Drum box could be played on DRUM PADS LIVE.
PRINCE was progressive and an innovator from the start.
Bobby and PRINCE both used drum synthesizers.
Bobby admits that He was just copying what Prince did in the studio when performing live.
Also one of the first people (if not THE FIRST) to play samples like BOMB sounds via the DRUM PADS.
Bobby thought Prince was The "Greatest Piano Player He Ever Heard" as soon as they met....
The original core of the first band was PRINCE, Bobby Z., Andre Cymone. The original NPG trio? Hmm.
He also spoke of how impressive it was that even as Prince was starting out, people of the likes of Bowie and Wahol would come out to see them play because of how amazing Prince was.
Prince would say things like "We are gonna play SNL" and "We are gonna make a movie" and then those things would happen.
Bobby also shared his story of his heart attack 2 years ago and his charity event in March for MyPurpleHeart.Org.
The entire interview delves into so much that if you are a fan of PRINCE and wanting to hear stories never heard before, watching the SPREECAST is a must! We are working on getting a podcast version of the interview.-DocFB

Add Alicia Keys, Maroon 5 and Frank Ocean to the performers list at this year's Grammy Awards. Presenters added are Kaley Cuoco, Neil Patrick Harris, Faith Hill, Carly Rae Jepsen,Tim McGraw, Katy Perry, and Keith Urban.
Looks like that fight with Chris Brown will not keep Frank Ocean from performing at the Grammys.
Ocean is up for six awards: Record Of The Year for "Thinkin Bout You"; Album Of The Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Channel Orange; Best New Artist; and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (with Jay-Z, Kanye West and The-Dream); and Best Short Form Music Video (with Kanye West, Frank Ocean, The-Dream, Romain Gavras, and Mourad Belkeddar) for "No Church In The Wild."
Three-time GRAMMY-winning group Maroon 5 are up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Payphone" and Best Pop Vocal Album for Overexposed.
Previously announced performers for the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards include current nominees Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert, The Black Keys, FUN., the Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Jack White, as well as Elton John and current nominee Ed Sheeran performing live together for the first time, and Justin Timberlake. Two-time GRAMMY winner LL COOL J returns as host-DocFB
Diagnosis: Shaping up to be a good night of musical performances.
Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" debuted at number 84 on the Billboard Charts and then jumped to #4 with the most adds ever in one week for a new single. That didn't last long as the single fell out of the top 10 to number 13.
The song dropped 65 percent in digital sales, down 200,000 copies.
The video has yet to be released and was shot last week in Los Angeles with Jay Z, which is where the photo above is from.
Although sales are down, "Suit & Tie" is gaining airplay. We have a feeling with the video release and with his performance on the Grammy's next week, the song will rebound back into the top 10.
It does show that perhaps a song with a gradual build-up tend to last longer on the charts and have more staying power than a song that hits so fast, it usually is gone within the month.-DocFB
Diagnosis: For the record, I still like the song.
Was it really only 5 months ago that we first talked about Hannah Ford and her joining the NPG? Within those 5 months, her star has risen as she was recently named one of the top female drummers around. It is always nice when good things happen to good people.
Hannah is also featured on a new still of what we presume to be a new PRINCE or NPG or 3rd Eye Girl video entitled "L.O.L. (Live Out Loud)" that 3rd Eye Girl posted on her Twitter account.
Flight Drummers listed Hannah in the top 5 of their female drummers list. 3 of the top 5 have played for PRINCE with Hannah being his current drummer.
They had this to say about the talented drummer:
This young female drumming sensation is one in a million! Hannah was born in Louisville, Kentucky and at a young age, has studied with some of the best drummers in the world. Among that list of drummers is Louie Bellson, Ndugu Chancler, Peter Erskine, Stanton Moore, Johnny Rabb, Ignacio Berroa, and many more.
Directly following high school she accepted a scholarship to Chicago College of Performing Arts.
Hannah is currently featured on PRINCE's single "Screwdriver" and played night 6 of the Dakota Jazz Shows to rave reviews. Congrats Hannah!-DocFB
Diagnosis: Now will she tell us who is really 3rdEyeGirl?
KROQ in Los Angeles leaked the new Depeche Mode single "Heaven" early as both the song and video were supposed to be released on Friday. KROQ, a long-standing supporter of DM may have got permission to premiere the song early.
“Writing this album was incredibly daunting as I wanted the sound of this collection to be very modern," Gore said in press materials for the band's upcoming album, "Delta Machine." "I want people to feel good about listening to this record, to get some kind of peace. It’s just got something magical about it."
“With this release we’ve completely shifted our idea of how to create an album. When we hit a wall where we realize the album is beginning to sound too normal, we'll mess it up and really give it that organic Depeche Mode sound, frontman Dave Gahan said. “'Delta Machine' is no different, and I can't wait for all of our fans to hear it.”
The song was removed by soundcloud. Listen to "Heaven" from Delta Machine above by clicking on the link.
Delta Machine will be released on March 26th. For the full track listing along with more info, click on the continue reading button below.....
