Frida Giannini, Beyonce Knowles-Carter, and Salma Hayek-Penault star in a new video for Chime For Change, a woman’s empowerment campaign.

Beyonce is embracing the Knowles-Carter name for sure, even naming her tour the Mrs. Carter tour.

I think it is also rare that Salma is using her husband’s name as well. Interesting that they are using it for a woman’s empowerment video too.-DocFB

Diagnosis: Wonder if a woman will actually take the title of Mrs. Funkenberry? Nahhhhhh

    Among nobility, in the past especially, if a woman married down from her social status it was common for her and her husband to use a double-barrelled name. This was done both so as not to diminish the social status of the woman and to gain for her husband a higher social status.

    So there you have it’s women’s empowerment, Selma and Beyonce are helping out their hubbies climb the social ladder 🙂

    In Italy, everyone keeps their own surname from birth to death, so Frida Giannini will always be Frida Giannini.
