Bruno Mars Opens Up About His Previous Battle With Drugs

In the new issue of GQ, Bruno Mars graces the cover and talks about his battle with drug addiction. The singer is open and candid and says he tries to forget about that night in Vegas where he was busted for cocaine possession.

I was really drunk. So a lot of that is a big blur, and I try every day to forget and keep pushing.”

What did he learn from his arrest?

‘I can take this s*** away from you, young man.’ That was the lesson,”

“You’ve slaved away for years and years and years. You’ve prepped your whole life. It’s all you know how to do. You’re a kid experiencing life in f****** Sin City, and that was the lesson: It can all be taken away. Put you in a weird place. Embarrass you.”

He also talks about how hard songwriting is as he expressed on Twitter while recording the new CD.

“That sh*t is hard, man. It’s so hard to do. Might be one of the hardest things to ever do. I don’t ever want to come out with something safe and get away with ‘It sounds good!’ It’s got to be more than sounding good.”

“It’s that unexplainable high. Why I keep doing it. That feeling that you keep on chasing and chasing. Because it’s nothing, man. It’s taking the air and turning it into something. That’s the feeling,”

Bruno is about to kick off a world tour and you can view tour dates HERE!

“Unorthodox Jukebox” has been a critical success and is still selling well.-DocFB

Diagnosis: Hopefully, the drug demon is behind him….

Wow!!!!…..Peter your fans love you and your potential is wayyyyyy beyond you selling yourself out for some thing as crazy as drugs (We have all seen the effect’s from Elvis to Whitney). It must be quite difficult to come down from the pedestal ppl put a rock star on and just be normal. I suppose this is why most artists can’t sleep. They’re in constant heightened levels of consciousness and judgement from the world around them. And so drugs seem to bring them down or pump them up. If only the conversation of artistry could start with the creator who issued talent to begin with. Though even Elvis wasn’t able to conquer his demons. Here’s hoping Bruno can…

I’m glad he’s handled his drug problem because he is so talented. He’s learned a lot and has come back from that bad situation. Very proud of that. After Amy Winehouse passed away I think many musicians and non musicians want to get themselves clean and sober. His album Unorthodox Jukebox is a pretty good album. I am happy I purchased his album because with all of it’s different styles of music he’s put into this album…it literally is one of the better albums to come out in 2012.
