OH MY!!!! Prince and 3rdEyeGirl was on FIRE last night! But we already knew they would be, didnt we? There are some VERY positive rewviews out there, Doc. HERE’S ONE: “Decidedly more visceral, however, was a show-ending, show-stopping performance by Prince, who earned the Billboard icon award , and his all-female backing band 3rd Eye Girl.

Flames burst up from the back of the stage as they played, but it hardly matched the heat generated by the band as they knuckled down hard while Prince soloed wildly, full of abandon, like a hound who had chewed himself off his leash.

It wasn’t old school or new school; it was just school, period, and class was in session”

Incredible show. I guess it didn’t take long for Princey to take off the video’s, lol… but it was good while it lasted. I’m sure we’ll be able to get the video soon on his other website… or on 3rdeyegirl.com 🙂

The performance was decent. Nothing mind blowing or that I haven’t seen or heard from him before. The most interesting and original thing about the band is that Prince and this incarnation of his band is that it’s an caucasian female backing band that all know how to rock.

Ida’s bass solo was the highlight for me. Prince’s solos were second and cool. Nothing earth shattering though. I knew the moment Prince created “3rd Eye Girl” and had Ida, Hannah and Donna playfully say they didn’t know anything about the name or “who” started it on the net, that he was gearing them up to be their own band. Knowing they have a CD coming out confirms that. Makes it all a bit pre-planned on Prince’s part which I guess has always been the name of his game for him. Cool to see him moving forward, but I’d still like him to look back every now and again and bring back players from his past from time to time down the road. And, I’m talking HIS band members like The Revolution and the various NPGs, not Maceo, Larry or The Family Stone. Those are members from OTHER bands. With 3rd Eye Girl, it’s nice to see Prince continuing and building on his legacy by having ORIGINAL members that HE has brought up to the stratosphere and not borrowing members from past legends like Sly and James.

What I REALLY, REALLY dislike though is that BOTH the video clips above have been removed already from YouTube. Guess the powers that be at Controversy Music and ABC don’t want the world to witness Prince and 3rd Eye Girl in action after the fact cause they ain’t making money off the videos. Well, I’m happy that DVR’ing and copying the show at home will NEVER be taken away, deleted or taken down. That freedom will always be on OUR side.

Loved the performance a lot Prince really showed how to perform without lip-syncing and million dancers on the stage. His performance was the best I’m glad that they saved it for last. Cant wait to see the video for Fixurlifeup. I loved the montage in the beginning its good to see some new stuff in there.

Ooo really wish i would have known u were going to have it on here to watch because it was torture getting through all that drivel to the good stuff. I kept thinking I was going to miss it as we kept flipping to MadMen and Inglorious… shoot anything not to watch that show, horrible! except for Prince of course.

I love that the presentation includes not only his musical achievements, but also his fight for artist’s rights and all that he has been standing up for!! I hope young people who have not yet been into Prince get at least intrigued to check out what he has done!!!

Just a few minutes ago I wrote on Andre Cymone’s Facebook that Here in Germany I sadly couldn’t enjoy the show. Now I’m all eyes and can’t believe anybody’s able to perform in such a way live. Extraordinary. Thanks for sharing, Doc!

Thanks Doc, really appreciate you putting this footage up so quickly for those of us outside the US. Prince was very generous giving each bandmember their moment to shine. The drawback with lyric videos playing in the background is that everyone knows when you “adlib”, which may also just serve to reinforce your musical “geniusship”!

Really enjoyed “FIXURLIFEUP”, hopefully a live version will eventually be released as happened with Scewdriver. Even if 2013 is going to BIG ended right here we should all be grateful for everything to date. Of course we dont mind that there are still some official engagements in Europe, so bring it on and let’s enjoy 🙂

Prince should not have performed on this show. Everyone was lip synching and it was complete garbage. Real music by real musicians! He is way classier than this junk!
