20 Jun Critics Attacking Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” as Being A Rape Song
Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” is spending its second week at number one and is now getting heavy criticism for being a “pro-rape” song.
In an interview with GQ, Thicke did say ‘We tried to do … everything that is completely derogatory towards women,’ “We tried to do everything that was taboo,” he told GQ on May 7, “bestiality, drug injections, and everything that is completely derogatory towards women.”
Hmm. Keep in mind that Robin Thicke is married and Pharrell is engaged to be married. T.I. is also married.
The NY Daily News spoke with other bloggers about the song. “The fact that they are all married with kids does not make it OK for him to say these things or depict them in a song,” another blogger, Liz Terry, wrote. “Songs like this are dangerous.”
The video is also being attacked, at least the unedited version that points out that “Robin Thicke has a bid d*ck” and the all nude women in the video. Also the lyrics of “I know you want it” and “I’ll tear your a** in two.”
In the GQ interview, Thicke added: “What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman,” he continued. “I’ve never gotten to do that before. I’ve always respected women.”
What I’ve mostly noticed when posting this song here and the responses on Twitter and Facebook is that it seems women are digging this song more than men. Perhaps I am wrong.

Everyone is so damn uptight these days that no one remembers how to have sexy, sassy fun! I’ve watched the abridged and the unrated versions both, several times.I see nothing but a song about a “good girl” who is sexually attracted to that guy that all women really want, the “bad boy” and he KNOWS she’s attracted so he is trying to “seduce” her with his words. He is not “raping” her. That’s ridiculous. And it MAY even hold a deeper message as suggested by Debbie here, maybe it IS meant to point out all the stupid sexist lyrics in most rap and hip-hop songs today and how what is and is not acceptable keeps changing. That is what Robin himself seems to be saying anyway. Relax and enjoy the sexy sass!

Its a great song. fun to sing along with (i guess i’m missing the edited lyrics) ~ I find this, like many other songs .. a guy trying to get the girl .. not trying to RAPE her .. sounds to me like he is admiring her .. he feels her admiring him and saying .. come on girl . let’s go . ?? Jeez …. “… what rhymes with Hug Me..” ? LOL .. SMH

Posted at 16:50h, 20 JuneTheir taking this a little to far I am NOT trying to defined Robin BUT What the message is saying in the video is How our Society is so ammuned to the mistreatment of Women and saying it is acceptable be called ALL these kinds of derogatory Names and we as Women should Play STUPID and go along with it. That is the reason for Robin’s songs Blurred Lines because he saying were are sending Mix messages to our Women instead of saying Positive Affirmation to ALL Women.
