PRINCE Dead At 57

PRINCE Photo: NPGRECORDS 2015

It is with deep regret and sadness that we are hearing about Prince dying at 57. We do not know cause of death at this time.

From PRINCE’s publicist:
“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,”-Yvette Noel-Schure

He had been battling the flu. I have no further info at this time. I will update when I can.

To us he was more than just a celebrity and he has referred to us as a true friend on multiple occasions.
I am in denial a bit.

“He called me his friend. I don’t think he had many. I cherish that he let me into his life and confided with me, shared with me, and let me be a part of things for him. For that, I am truly grateful. I know I speak for fans and friends around the world that this is a tremendous loss. He was brilliant. So funny. You have no idea. Loved basketball almost as much as his guitar.”-Dr. Funkenberry

SanDiegoFunkDaddy, Prince was not alone, dear. The Lord had His angels there with him. It hurts that we won’t see him on this side again. But, now Prince is at total peace with his babies and Jesus. Prince is fine, we are just experiencing the loss on this side of heaven. Prince was a man of faith. If anything, his passing allows all of us who loved him and his music to make a decision. Prince, believed in the afterworld and heaven and hell. Now, it is up to everyone to decide for ourselves who or what we believe. Prince is not alone. “To be absent from the body and be present with the Lord!!”

2 weeks later its not getting any better. I’m able to listen to his music again so thats a start. I’m a Day 1 fan raised in Detroit which was Prince’s second hometown. We all ate and drank his music 24/7. What hurts the worse is he died alone. Nobody was there to help him

I promise u, I have not been the same person since Prince departed..

My own family even knows it..

George Clinton spoke exactly what I was feeling, but I did not know how to put it into words, “I’m In Denial”, & “I really can’t process this”….I’m trying, but I really can’t do it….I can’t be the only one

This is a new feeling, if that’s what it is.. I pray deeply(daily) for Tyka & family, Sheila E., Andre Cymone, Dez Dickerson, Apollonia, The Revolution, The Time, The Family, The NPG, you name them, I pray for them, plus us fans….cuz I know we all share pretty much the same pain, some quite more, I’m sure, definitely not less..

Like Sheila, just looking at pics & videos of Prince is nearly impossible & torturing, I breakdown every time….even get angry at times.

I ordered some of his records from ebay, & it was like cutting myself, or just inflicting myself with some sorta new pain, I can’t describe it, but it’s very painful..

Mann Prince…really? I know I’m bein selfish, but Prince really…bro??

Thanx again, like always Doc…sorry if I’m a nuisance….I just need to vent this pain man some kinda way or anotha….bless u sir

    but..
really Prince?? mann, c’mon he aint gone, he can’t be…he just can’t be.. please tell me it’s some kinda joke…this just can’t be real…it just can’t be…….P-R-I-N-C-E!!!!PRINCE!!!!!! my bro….it just can’t be true!!!

I am so sad about this. I have been listing to Prince’s music since 1982 (when I was 14) and his music has been a part of my entire adult life. I feel like I have lost a lifetime companion.

I would like to give my condolences to his family and to those who knew him personally.

Although I sincerely believe that I will see Prince on the other side, like Dee said, Prince is like Uncle, lover, brother, friend! Heartache. No more concerts, however, the Purple fam have music that some have never heard. True love, not just a one night stand…..been in love with Prince since 1979!❤️ God (Immanuel) is with us family.

I had listened to your podcast yesterday morning, and in a weird way it prepared me for the tragic news later in the day. It got me thinking “what will I do when Prince passes” and at least softened the blow for me a little.

It’s nice knowing there are so many others out there who were so deeply touched. And Dr. Funkenberry you’ve been a good friend not just to us but to the man himself.

    Thank you. Stay in touch.

I always feared that day, hoped that I would never have to read that headline. It’s like a nightmare for me that I can’t wake up from. I’m breaking down to tears every few minutes… Couldn’t sleep last night… Never felt 4 some1 like that besides family. He’s been a BIG part of my life since I first heard ‘When doves cry’ in ’84 when I was 12 years old. So many memories in my head, so many special moments … can’t let go yet.

Very sad, but grateful for a lifetime of inspiration and joy. No doubt I would be a different person today if not for Prince.

Only last night I was thinking about the announcement of the Live CD and book. It will be sad we have so few proper documents that recorded his performances live to share with our kids.

Part of me is hopeful he had plans for his music to be handled properly once he was gone. Potentially so much stuff could be made available. I really sad / pissed off when I looked at Apple Music this morning and only found his latest album available to stream. It’s just where I go to now for music – but Prince decided he didn’t want to be there.

I hope someone at Rolling Stone remembers they did an interview in the 80’s that was to be released after her passed.

It had to be in April… why does 57 seem so significant to me though?

Today I listen to Around The World In A Day. Never sounded better.

May you all live to see the Dawn.
