EXCLUSIVE Photos: Prince Rocks New York’s Madison Square Garden

Prince once again rocked Madison Square Garden last night with the fourth of his Welcome 2 America shows. These exclusive photos landed in our inbox just now – thanks to the purple one for sharing them. Hot, no?

Last night’s openers were ol’ skool band Mint Condition and the funkified Janelle Monae (who also joined Prince on stage for “If I Was Your Girlfriend” during his set). Rolling Stone had this to say about Prince’s high-energy, hit-packed, sold-out show: “Such is the power of Prince: With songs as funky and fresh as that, the party doesn’t ever stop.” (full RS review here).

Were you at the show? Was it as funky as these pics??? -Dr.FB

I am in awe of this man! The concert was awesome and the energy from the crowd was so powerful. It ended too soon and I wanted to hear more of Prince. I agree with others that it would be cool to hear some newer music as well, but I am NOT complaining because I had an awesome time. What a night to remember. My dream would be to hear him in a small venue – maybe like an aftershow, but my ultimate dream would be to be a fly on the wall and watch him in his creative process writing lyrics and composing music.

I’ve seen many shows over the last 3 decades, but I don’t recall any shows since the 80’s where he stayed so primarily in the 80’s. Save Question of u (The only new song in the show.. Call it the Gingerbread Man Remix) and Cream. Do to that and the arrangements, I would say it was different than any other Prince show as usual. No covers (except the Time’s Cool, although I don’t consider it a cover when he wrote it)… It was groovy, he sounded great. I can’t really follow the plot right now. No 20Ten cd release (I expected he would have gave them away at the shows. No songs from that (or any albums after ’91 (I see he did Layitdown at a prior NY/NJ show..) Whatever, I hope he keeps it coming. Thanks Prince.

All of Prince’s shows here in NY/NJ were pure FIYAH!!!! The man is on some next shit and I LOVE IT!!! With that said, with the Jan 18th show coming up, I really, REALLY hope that NY gets an aftershow. Europe got one, NY needs one too. Also, while i am enjoying the hell out of these shows, I would love to hear some post 1995 music from Prince. Yes I know that the casual fans may not know about most if not all of that stuff, but why not find a cool and clever way to introduce them to the fans. There was so MUCH great stuff after WB and it would be a shame if there isn’t a few songs represented on the 18th’s show. If it doesn’t happen, then life goes on and I will still enjoy the show but it would be great to have something extra for the diehards, that’s all. In the end, Prince is showing my why I have stayed with Prince for 27 years and will be a fan for another 27 years with these shows. God bless Prince 4ever and ever!!!!!

Dig if you will this picture. It’s a false front. They that “will” 2C God for what they “will” God to be will not see God. Only the will of God is that which will remove the blindness so that they that will to be within the will of God will see what truely is.

Pointing up, doesn’t mean you know what direction is down, nor does it mean you know which way is right and which way is center.

Prince probably wants to chill for a while, have some babies and create his greatest musical masterpiece. Would be a shame if his gift didnt get passed on!
