"The Proposal" with Sandra Bulllock & Ryan Reynolds debuted at number 1 at the box office bringing in about $34 million.
"The Hangover" came in at number 2 making $26 million while Year One came in 3rd making $20 million.
I know I said earlier this week that "The Proposal" would knock "The Hangover" from the number 1 spot and it did. People scoffed and said it would be "Year One" and it wasn't.
I must say, I saw "The Proposal" this weekend with a female friend. I thought it was funny and..sigh...I did kind of tear up but I think it was something in the air. Ahem. It was about 2 hours but it felt to me that I wish it was longer because I liked the characters. I highly doubt a "Proposal 2" even though the characters were very like able. Betty White and Mary Steenbergen were great.
I highly recommend this film as a date film and second best comedy this year right behind "The Hangover" obviously.-Dr.FB
Here is the trailer for "The Proposal" featuring Ryan Reynolds & Sandra Bullock and also featuring Betty White.
You might remember last month we posted a funny behind the scenes comedy piece of Ryan going off on Betty White. So far, comedies, which there has been a lack of so far this year, are what people want to see in this craptastic economy. Not explosions. Not car chases. But straight funny comedies. Note to the industry: comedies are cheaper to make than whack movies like "Land Of The Lost."
Will "The Hangover" hang on to number 1 with "The Proposal" and "Year One" opening this weekend?-Dr.FB
