Johnny Depp To Star in Fourth “Pirates” Movie, Due in 2011

Yahoo! Movies reports that Johnny Depp will begin filming the fourth installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise this summer in Hawaii. The sexiest and most stylish man alive will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. Geoffrey Rush will return to play the villain, Barbossa, while former cast members Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom will not appear in the film.

Entitled “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, the film is loosely based on the 1987 pirate novel, “On Stranger Tides” by award-winning fantasy author Tim Powers. The book tells the story of a young man who is captured by the pirate Blackbeard and forced to join in the search for the Fountain of Youth.

In other changes, the director of the original trilogy, Gore Verbinski, will not return. He is being replaced by Rob Marshall, the director of “Chicago” and “Nine.”

Mark your calendars for May 20th, 2011 when “On Stranger Tides” is due in theaters. Before that, you can catch Depp on-screen in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” in March. Depp will also appear as Tonto in a film version of “The Lone Ranger,” due to begin filming after Pirates wraps production.- Dr.FB
