PRINCE’s NPG (The New Power Generation) will perform at the legendary First Ave. in Minneapolis for the very Princely sum of $31.21. The event will also be televised via PPV by Live Alliance.
The event is simply titled “Celebrating PRINCE”.
After conquering Europe, Japan, & Australia, along with Super Bowl 52 festivities, the NPG take over the First Ave. night club.
This will be the NPG’s first ever scheduled concert at First Avenue. (On 07 07 07, Prince & the NPG performed a late-night unannounced concert at the club.)
First Avenue’s ticket pre-sale date is Thursday, June 28 and tickets go on-sale to the general public at 10 AM, Friday, June 29. In another nod to Prince, tickets for the event are priced at just $31.21, a number that once meant a lot to the legendary artist and will likely resonate well with his fans.
The PPV price is slated to be $9.99 and a link to the streaming site will be posted on the band’s web site NEWPOWERGENERATION.NET and will be posted on their social media pages.
The PPV concert event will also benefit the PRN Alumni Foundation & Alumni.
NPG will play Prince’s greatest hits alongside his hidden gems. The core line-up includes Morris Hayes (longtime musical director and keyboards), Tommy Barbarella (keyboards), Levi Seacer, Jr. (guitar), Tony Mosley (guitar, vocals), Sonny Thompson (bassist), Damon Dickson (percussion, dancer, background vocals), MacKenzie (lead vocals) and Keith Anderson (saxophone). The NPG Hornheads, a brass ensemble assembled by Prince in 1991, are confirmed to play as well.
