The litmus test I use for Prince shows is whether or not he makes me want to swear off 36 years of heavy metal guitar playing and lay down the funk here on out. His "Rainbow Children" Tour nearly put me to sleep. Last night's Nokia Theatre show made me air guitar so much my fiance has made a concerned call to my parents. Not really, but sort of. By now, we've all seen the different set lists, talked about the sound, etc. But what Prince demonstrated last night was not merely a thriving relevance in a musical landscape dominated by retarded pop sexuality, bad poetry, and an emo-hangover that's lasted way too long. No, he reminded me, and since I'm speaking for the collective whole, US of all the reasons of why - and I quote - "Prince IS Music". Always surrounded by top-notch musicians (I still am awed by his rhythm section), the Purple One always cuts a graceful swath of musical genius. Anyone remember last year's cover of Radiohead's "Creep" at Coachella. Genius. And I honestly could care less about Radiohead. And yes, I'm not afraid to say his name and always fall for his shenanigans when he says "y'all ain't ready". Mischievous scamp. No Prince. I am ready. I am always ready. Thanks for playing "Controversy". It's one of my top two favs. Also, bring back Candy Dulfer on the sax. But that's just me.
Status update... Dr.FB is at..the Prince shows.

FYI, the "harmonica instrumental" was a cover of Littlewing by Hendrix (accompanied by the band but no Prince) and he TORE IT UP! I was at this show and the midnight one.. I missed the first 2 songs at the midnight show because of the delay of letting the crowd in... but it was still a great show.
The Dr. always gives the funkiest reports! I think P and the Band should of thrown the spot light on U 2 introduce U (my opinion!) The concert was excellent despite the sound troubles with Prince's mc. Being the gentleman he is, Prince acknowledged the problems 2 the crowd and committed 2 playing through it. A TRUE Musician!
Thanks Dr. for the set list details! Special thanks to Prince for the Front Row Center seats (Row F, 305 and 306)!!! We couldn't believe where we were sitting and BF went nuts along with me throughout the show (and I wasnt expecting him to have such a great time!) Sound was great from where we were sitting I feel bad for everyone else now. Luv you Lotusflow3r.com - sign up or you will miss out!!!
Yes gotta give it up for Dr Funkenberry! If it weren't for his help last month I probably would not have made the Oscar After Show. And appreciate the reports from tonight since I unfortunately could not be there! :( Boo-Hoo! My karma has held up every show that I gotten tixs to via Prince's music clubs(s) were all front row seats. I was just behind the pit so I could see everything w/o anybody standing in front of me. I"ll be waiting to read the review of the last show already read the conga room.
