Alicia Keys with Prince, 2008 Grammy Awards | mtv.com

According to music-news.com, Alicia Keys is “desperate to duet with Prince”. Despite winning nine Grammy awards in her career and collaborating with many top artists, Keys says “it would be a dream come true to record a track with her idol, the only celebrity who has left her completely star-struck”.

During an interview on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Keys said: “I met Prince before. I tried to act cool but I definitely had a little star-struck moment. He’s great.”

Keys has had her share of opportunities to hang out with the purple one. In 2001, she performed as part of his Celebration at Paisley Park. Keys also gave a speech for Prince when he was inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Prince also presented Keys with the best female R&B vocal performance at last year’s Grammy Awards.

Wonder if there are any Keys / Prince collaborations in the purple vault… What do you guys think? Would you like to see these two record together? -Dr.FB

Who Dat? It’s Sheila E.

Posted in Celebrity News, Entertainment, Music, Sports on January 25th, 2010 by drfunkenberry

Sheila, you are so wrong!  But…it’s kind of funny.  Sheila E. made a “fight song” for the Saints late last night where she dressed up as her friend Prince.

This was obviously in response to the fight song Prince made for the Minnesota Vikings late last week.

“Dig If You Will The Playoffs….” is how it starts with a little purple beat.

Let me know what you all think.  Highlarious.-Dr.FB

Chi McBride Parties With Prince

Posted in Celebrity News, Entertainment, Music on January 23rd, 2010 by drfunkenberry

Chi McBride & Kristin Chenoweth. File Photo

Chi McBride was on the “Dan Patrick Show” a sports show talking about his new show “Human Target” on Fox.

Dan wanted to talk to Chi about partying with Prince one time..  His costar at the time of the show “Pushing Daises” Kristen Chenoweth was invited to Prince’s house for a party and invited Chi along.

Chi said Prince had a thing for Kristen (she is so sweet and so tiny, who wouldn’t?) and talked about how Dan and Prince have to crash Prince’s house.  Too bad they won’t be able to since Prince has been chilling (no pun intended) in Minnesota recently.

I am thinking Chi is talking about THIS PARTY and how Kristen sang with Prince.

How funny and cool is that?

What is up with men getting scared to look the brother in the eye?  I don’t look him in the eye either but I rarely make eye contact with other men anyway!-Dr.FB

P.S. if you care to listen to the full audio and not just the Prince stuff, you can go HERE.

Also, big THANKS to ANH for the heads up on this.

Robyne Robinson broke the news at the local fox affiliate in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that PRINCE was set to debut a Minnesota Vikings fight song tonight.  The song is entitled “Purple & Gold.”

Prince has been seen at a few Vikings football game and may have been inspired by Brett Favre n the way they manhandled the Cowboys on Sunday.  Shoot, I hope it replaces Brett singing “Pants On The Ground” for sure.

Prince had this to say to FOX9:

“I saw the future,” said Prince.

He said he went home that night, wrote the song, “Purple and Gold,” and said it came easy and fast.

Check out the song above and let me know what you think.-Dr.FB

Update:  here are the lyrics to the Vikings fight song entitled “Purple & Gold”

Purple and Gold Lyrics

the veil of the sky draws open
the roar of the chariots touch down
we r the ones who have now come again
and walk upon water like solid ground
as we approach the throne we won’t bow down
this time we won’t b denied

raise every voice and let it b known
in the name of the purple and gold

we come in the name of the purple and gold
all of the odds r in r favor
no prediction 2 bold
we r the truth if the truth can b told
long reign the purple and gold

the eyes say ready 4 battle
no need 4 sword in hand
we r all amped up like a rock n roll band
ready 2 celebrate every score
ready 2 fight the elegant war
ready 2 hear the crowd roar

that’s what we came 4
and so much more
in the name of the purple and gold

r spirits may b tired
r bodies may b worn
but since this day is r destiny
r history – that’s y we must b
4ever strong as the wind that blows the Vikings’ horn
in the name of the purple and gold

CHORUS

Video: Prince Attends Vikings-Cowboys Game

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment, Sports on January 17th, 2010 by drfunkenberry

It was bad enough that the Vikings whupped on my Dallas Cowboys today.

Add insult to injury when the baddest man on the planet, PRINCE was there with his protege Bria Valente and others in a luxury box suite.

Brett Favre and that “Purple Reign” defense put Tony Romo on his back more than Paris Hilton.  Shoot, Romo fumbled more balls than a midget porn star.

What can I say?  Congrats to PRINCE and his Minnesota Vikings along with Brett Favre.

Playoff football is alive..and it lives in Minneapolis.-Dr.FB

Tik Tok! Kesha Goes On A Sales Pitch

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment, Music on January 11th, 2010 by drfunkenberry

New singer Kesha or Ke$ha if you want to be lame about it, had her debut CD come out this week and she raided Amoeba Records In Los Angeles trying to get customers to buy her new CD.

What’s interesting about Kesha and her song tik tok is that back in the Gayties 80’s, Kesha woulda been a 1 hit wonder.  Not so in here and now.  She did not need any help pushing her CD as it will debut this week at number 1.

Now, maybe next time she will be invited to Prince’s house instead of breaking in to get him to listen to her music.-Dr.FB

Video Premiere: Nick Jonas “Who I Am”

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment, Music on January 4th, 2010 by drfunkenberry

Here is Nick Jonas debut solo video, backed up by the New Power Administration.  Nick is following the Justin Timberlake formula of getting former Prince band members to back you up and you seem like a funky white boy.

Nick is backed by Michael Bland, Sonny Thompson and Tommy Barberella, all 3 who have played with Prince before.  I am going to leave any criticism regarding Nick out because of his effort to bring Diabetes to the forefront of what a serious disease it is.

Let me know what you think of the video and song.-Dr.FB

New Years Eve Plans & Resolutions

Posted in Celebrity News, Entertainment on December 31st, 2009 by drfunkenberry

2010 FreeDigitialPhotos.com

Hello everyone.  So 2009 is about to be put to rest and this entire decade.  What are we calling this decade anyway?  What are we calling this upcoming one?  While I am asking questions…..

What do you have planned for New Years Eve this year?

What was your favorite New Years Eve experience in your life?

Did you ever have a New Years Eve hook-up that turned into something long-term?

If you are single, do you feel more pressure to go out for New Years Eve and do something?

I have had a few NYE experiences.  Back in the late 90’s, I did the whole partying on the streets of Las Vegas and the vibe was fun…until you tried to make the way back to your hotel.  Not so much fun.

A couple of times, I spent it with a girlfriend n her family.  Not really having a family, it was a cool experience in the sense of somewhat fitting in.

A few years ago, I was invited back to Las Vegas for New Years and saw Prince in his club 3121.  I was told he would take the stage shortly before midnight and no mention of New Years would happen.  He did just that and we partied til 5 in the morning regardless.  That was a fun night and the pressure of “hooking” up on New Years was taken off by his music, and perhaps for others, it made it easier to hook up.

Since you guys usually ask for my answers to questions I ask, I provided them this time.

I look forward to your answers and I  wish you a Happy New Year. 2010 baby!-Dr.FB

The crowd at the opening of "Art of Prince"

On Friday night, the San Francisco Art Exchange hosted a reception for their latest exhibition, “Art of Prince”, featuring the work of artist and designer Anthony Malzone. The show included seven pieces that have been used on Prince’s website or for concert posters in Europe. Below are some pics from the event which was well attended and funky – local DJ’s Bombhiphop were in the house spinning Prince tunes all nite.

If you missed the live broadcast we did from the event, you can watch the archive of it here. Anthony gave us a great tour of his work and shared some nice tidbits about working with the purple one. And we talked to some fans who were having a good time at the party.

So, what’s your favorite piece of the seven that were on display? Not sure any are left to buy however. On Friday night, Anthony tweeted this: “Thank you to everyone who made it out/tuned in for the live stream.  One man purchased the entire collection!!!!!!!”- DrFB
