06 Oct No Laughing Matter As Chris Rock Gets Sued Over Hair

Chris Rock is being sued over the documentary he is releasing Friday entitled “Good Hair” as a documentary filmmaker is saying Chris stole her idea.

Regina Kimbell is saying her 2005 doc entitled “My Nappy Roots”  is what “Good Hair” is based on.  Her film won best doc prize at the 2007 Hollywood Black Film Festival and had stars talking about black hairstyles from the jheri curl, the fro, and dreds.

Kimbell is saying she showed her movie to Rock in 2007 and that is how he got the idea for his film.  She is seeking $5 million from Rock. At this time, Rock has not released a statement.

I don’t know, it seems kind of odd the lawsuit is filed the week of the movie’s release, no?-Dr.FB

    The timing is very suspect. I saw the trailer for this film a couple of months ago. Why didn’t she try and do something then? Whatever the case is, I’m going to see his movie when it comes out.

    Do you know how many black hair documentaries that have been made? Hundreds and all of them run along the same theme, style, etc.
