26 Dec R & B Legend Teena Marie Found Dead At 54

One of the most soulful voices of R & B music has died.  Teena Marie, 54 years old, died in her sleep last night.  Lynn Jeter, Teena’s rep, has confirmed the news to media outlets.  Her daughter, whose birthday was on Christmas day and just turned 19,  found her body earlier this morning.  So sad.

We are being told that Teena had a mild seizure within the past month. 

“Luckily, someone was there,”Jeter said of that seizure. “The ambulance took her to the hospital, and on the way she had another seizure.”

Teena Marie’s career took off when under another R & B Legend’s wing, the late great Rick James.  Teena was Rick’s protege and his duet partner for “Fire & Desire” and her major hit “Lovergirl” back in the 80’s.  She was the white girl who could sing “R & B” and helped break down color barriers in her time. 

As soon as we can confirm How Marie died, we will pass it on.

Rest in Peace Teena.  Thank you for the music and the soundtrack to many lives you have provided.  Say hello to Rick for us.  We send out heartfelt prayers and condolences to Teena Marie’s family and friends at this time….-Dr.FB

UPDATE: Accorring to reports by Pasadena Paramedics, it appears that Teena Marie died of natural causes……..
