Andre Cymone Releases New Song “My Best Friend”, Dedicated To His Mother
Andre Cymone has released a new single entitled "My Best Friend" which he has dedicated to his mother, Bernadette Anderson.
Andre sent me this message to share:
"Today is my mothers birthday and I wanted to do something for her. It's just a demo but today felt like the right day."
I caught up with Andre after 3rdEyeGirl's show in Anaheim a couple of weeks back and Andre was in a great and joking mood.

Uh-Oh! …And The New Best Selling Number 1 Song Of All Time Is…..
Elton John's "Candle In The Wind" held the title of best selling single of all time, going eleven times platinum. Now, a song has gone 12 times platinum. Who?
"Baby" by Justin Bieber is now the best selling song of all time. With Billboard now taking into account Youtube views, "Baby" surpasses "Candle In The Wind"..although it hasn't sold more.
Bieber's "Baby" featuring rapper Ludacris has sold 3.9 million copies and has been viewed 859 MILLION times on YouTube.
Elton's "Candle In The Wind"/"Something About The Way You Look Tonight" has sold 33 million copies world-wide, 11 million in the U.S. There is no official YouTube channel for the "Candle In The Wind" performance, meaning it falls behind Bieber's YouTube hits, regardless of sales.
As much as I like the step forward Billboard has taken counting YouTube views, it changing the charts of songs that were there for years is disappointing.-DocFB

Founding Member Of The Doors Ray Manzarek; Dead At 74
Ray Manzarek, a founding member of the L.A. based rock group The Doors passed away today. He was 74.
The keyboardist death was announced by his publicist that he died at RoMed Clinic located in Rosenheim, Germany, where he was surrounded by his family.
Manzarek had been stricken by bile duct cancer.
Ray was responsible for "L.A. Woman," "Break On Through to the Other Side," "The End," "Hello, I Love You," and "Light My Fire.
Manzarek founded The Doors with Jim Morrison.
The Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger released this statement regarding Manzarek:
"I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and bandmate Ray Manzarek."

PRINCE & Kobalt Make Marketing & Distribution Deal Official!
PRINCE told us on the 1st day of the year that 2013 was going to be big. We are not even at the half-way point but PRINCE has just signed a deal with Kobalt Label Services (KLS) hours after his Billboard Award's performance with 3rdEyeGirl!
As part of a press release that was shared with Billboard first before other outlets, the deal states:
Under terms of the partnership, the singer/songwriter/musician/producer will release music by newly signed artists, as well as his own recordings and other Prince-produced material. KLS will provide marketing and distribution through its wholly owned global digital platform and network of physical distribution partners. According to a Kobalt spokesperson, details regarding the inaugural slate of releases under the new pact will be announced by Prince at a later date.
"This new venture gives Prince the flexibility and freedom he's always sought in a label partner,” Kobalt president Richard Sanders said in a press release announcing the partnership. “We're providing a high level of diverse services that will be particularly customized to his vision for each release, allowing the world to experience more music from Prince and his creative community.”
We first heard back in April of "Plectrum Electrum" a new record by 3rdEyeGirl that would feature PRINCE on one song and Hannah Ford-Welton singing lead on another song, leading us to assume the rest of the record, at that time, would be instrumental. Assuming.
The interesting and cool part of this deal with KLS is that it would feature the newly signed artists, along with his own material and other material that he has produced.
KLS is behind the distribution of the new Pet Shop Boys record, which is on their own x2 recordings, which we have featured on the site. KLS has done a good job of promoting that record and several others we have featured on the site.
Congrats to PRINCE on the deal and we await the announcement of the inaugural slate of releases that PRINCE will provide at a later date.-DocFB

A night after rocking the Billboard Music Awards Pre-Party, Andy Allo attended the Billboard Awards in a smashing dress and was interviewed by Billboard.
Andy talked about working with Prince and I'm not so sure the interviewer knew that when she asked if Andy was star-struck to see anyone tonight and asked if Prince was someone who would do that to her? Guess she didn't know about "When Stars Collide" now did she?-DocFB
