James Avery, who played 90's TV dad "Uncle Phil" on "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" has passed away. He was 68.
Alfonso Ribeiro, who played his son Carlton on the show, made the announcement of Avery's passing on his Facebook page this morning.
Avery had undergone surgery recently for an undisclosed illness and he passed away in an L.A. hospital last night.
His wife was by his bedside, but went to get something to eat, and when she returned, Avery had died.
For a lot of people, what Bill Cosby was to family comedies in the 80's, Uncle Phil was just as much important to 90's kids when it came to a father figure on television. He will be sadly missed.-DocFB
Diagnosis: There went holding out hope for a Fresh Prince reunion. I hope you are no longer in pain James. Much Love...Always...
Reality star Omarosa and her mother were with Duncan when he passed. Omarosa was not in the room when he died however.
Duncan's main success came from "The Green Mile" after being a bodyguard to the Hollywood elite like Will Smith. No one had anything bad to say about Duncan.
He was always a pleasure to work with on the set and always had a smile for everyone. He will be missed.-DocFB

Here is Ryan's full statement:
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life. I idolized him from the start, and I was graced early on in my career with his generous advice and counsel. When I joined his show in 2006 , it was a dream come true to work with him every New Year's Eve for the last 6 years. He was smart, charming, funny and always a true gentleman. I learned a great deal from him, and I'll always be indebted to him for his faith and support of me. He was a remarkable host and businessman and left a rich legacy to television audiences around the world. We will all miss him.” - Ryan Seacrest.
Here is one of Michael Jackson's first interviews on "American Bandstand" with Dick Clark. It was with his brothers, the Jackson 5.
Gotta love how MJ just took Dick's microphone and made it his. Dick was being playful with Michael. Interesting that Michael said he is not shy.

Legendary composer Clare Fischer who has worked with Prince, Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Tori Amos, Chaka Khan, and Robert Palmer, has died at the age of 83.
His official web site has been updated with his passing.
Clare released his first recording in 1962 and during that time would make arrangements for artists such as Sergio Mendes. In the 70's, he formed a latin band called "Salsa Picante," and won a Grammy as part of that group in 1981. That followed with working with The Jacksons, Debarge, and Atlantic Star.
In 1985, Fischer started working with music icon Prince on his "Parade" record. he also worked on Prince's "Pink Cashmere" "The One" and "Goodbye". Clair and Prince continued to work together as recently as Prince's "Te Amo Corazon" released on his number 1 album "3121" recorded in 2005. Prince heard of his writing through Rufus and Chaka Khan whose drummer was Clair's nephew.
Interestingly enough, although Prince and Clare worked with each other for over 30 years, they never met.
"I never met Prince and I was informed by people who had been with him when asked about meeting me that he said "I don't want to meet him." It's going just fine as it is."
Clare felt the reason that him and Prince worked together for so long is because they hadn't met personally.
We have contacted Prince's people regarding a comment about Clare's passing but have not heard anything back yet. Prince had this to say about Clare a few years ago for his work on "Parade";
"Special thanks 2 Clare Fischer 4 making brighter the colors of black & white."
Clare Fischer's talent and compositions will be heard for generations to come. How would Clare wish to be remembered?
"I may die a poor man, but I will have a smile on my face"-Clair Fischer 1991

Legendary Penn State college football coach Joe Paterno passed away this morning at the age of 85 years old.
Paterno was coach of Penn State for 46 years until being fired this past November for a sex scandal that rocked the sports world. An assistant of his, Jerry Sandusky had sexual abuse allegations leveled against him, and Paterno reported it to the athletic director, but not the police.
Shortly after he was let go, it was announced that Paterno had a treatable form of lung cancer. He passed away due to complications from lung cancer.
His family has released this statement to the media;
"He died as he lived. He fought hard until the end, stayed positive, thought only of others and constantly reminded everyone of how blessed his life had been. His ambitions were far reaching, but he never believed he had to leave this Happy Valley to achieve them. He was a man devoted to his family, his university, his players and his community."
It really is something that so shortly after he no longer coaches the team, he passes away. He was 85 years old and still coaching. He broke his hip on previous occasions and would still coach the team. It is unfortunate this scandal tainted his last days at Penn State. I do believe he will be remembered for his accomplishments as a coach and for what he meant to Penn State University.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Paterno family and Penn State University.-DocFB
Comedian Patrice O'Neal died at the age of 41 Monday night due to a diabetic stroke he had in October.
His friends at "The Opie And Anthony Show" confirmed he passed away. His booking agent, Matt Frost, released this statement:
"It is with terrible sadness we must report that Patrice O’Neal has passed away this morning at 7:00am due to the complications of the stroke he suffered on October 19.
Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius. His mother, who was also his best friend, was at his side. Patrice is survived by his wife, Vondecarlo; his step daughter Aymilyon, sister Zinder, and his mother Georgia.
The family wishes to thank all of the fans and friends who have expressed an outpouring of love and support for Patrice these past weeks. We ask that you please respect the family’s request for privacy at this difficult time."
Patrice was popular for his unique stand-up routine and was a fixture on several roast specials. On the roasts, they would make fun of Patrice for his diabetes, which a lot of friends did not feel he took seriously, and would joke about his death. His death is no joke......and neither is diabetes.-DocFB
