Daredevil as Batman? It appears so as it was just announced that Ben Affleck will be donning the cowl as Batman in the upcoming Superman/Batman movie.

EW.com broke the news that Affleck has been chosen.

Henry Cavill will return as Superman.  Other "Superman" cast members returning will be Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Zack Snyder will also return as director for the "Superman/Batman" movie.

Snyder had this to say about Ben being chosen to play Bruce Wayne:

“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”

“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character,” Warner Bros. exec Greg Silverman said in the announcement.

What do you think about the choice as Affleck being chosen to be the new Batman?-DocFB

Diagnosis:  I think people are going to trip.  Hard.  Did people trip this hard when Michael Keaton was chosen to be Batman in the first film?  On Clooney?

  1. As a longtime Batman fan – comics, tv, movies – I’ve come to realize how well the actor does has very little to do with who plays the part – but who directs the film. Michael Keaton was an okay choice to begin with, but Tim Burton(sorry Burton fans) was the worst thing to ever happen to the legendary Batman franchise….And Christopher Nolan one of the absolute best.
Burton robbed the momentum from Frank Miller’s amazing “The Dark Knight Returns”(1987) comic series – and turned Batman into his own tired-now freak show. Whatever the first movie had going for it, quickly died movie after horrible movie. So badly that watching any of Burton’s films -directed or produced – leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
And, if you haven’t figured it out yet, EVERY Tim Burton movie is a “Frankenstein” reboot – the misunderstood monster who just wants to be loved blah blah blah. How this guy still has a career is beyond me.

Anyway, back to my original point: Ben Affleck might not be the best choice. But how well he does will depend mostly on Joss Whedon, the director.
Whedon said it perfectly: “Affleck’ll crush it. He’s got the chops, he’s got the chin- just needs the material. Affleck and Cavill toe to toe — I’m in”.

He just needs the material. Crossing my fingers and hoping Christopher Nolan isn’t the first and last great “Batman” director.

  2. I saw Argo 4 the first time a few weeks ago and I was really impressed. I did not expect 2 like it as much as I did. His acting is not bad either…..seems like I am the only one who did not mind DD.

As 4 being Batman….i’ll have 2 think about that one. Bale was not bad but I HATED….hated the way he spoke when he was Batman. I was amazed he was given the green like 2 sound that way.

  3. Affleck as Batman WOW! Got to see How this is going to pan out. Being that I LOVE me sum BATMAN and Michael Keaton was the HOTTEST BATMAN of the 90’s got to see the Trailer’s to The Batman/Superman movie before I make my opinion.

  4. Wait, wait, wait…an American Superhero who does not need to mask an English accent?! Or any other accent?! Hmm, it might just work.

  5. Would love to see a new “Wonder Twins” & “Wonder Woman”.

  6. Well my extremely savvy nerd woke me last night to tell me. Although Ben got or should have got a razzy for ” Im takin to you Daredevil” He is an amazing director and very refined at this point. I think it will be (stealing a word from Andy Allo) Awesomesauce!!

  7. There was no Internet to trip on with Keaton, but all the comic stores I frequented had nothing good to say
