Metallica To Celebrate Record Store Day…With A Limited Edition Cassette

Metallica Record Store Day Cassette

In celebration of Record Store Day, on April 18th, Metallica will release No Life 'til Leather as a limited edition cassette.

The seven tracks were recorded in 1982 in Tustin, CA by the band's original lineup of James Hetfield: lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Lars Ulrich: drums, Dave Mustaine: lead guitar, and Ron McGovney: bass.

Straight from the archives, the original source material has been re-mastered to maximize the sound potential for 2015 without altering the original mixes. No Life 'til Leather will be available for purchase at your favorite local record store and on Metallica.Com. The collection has never been available commercially until now.

A note from Metallica:

This year we decided to celebrate Record Store Day with our friends at independent retail by taking a huge leap back in time to our humble beginnings with that little rectangle of plastic known as the "demo tape."  In 1982 we recorded seven songs that became our initial calling card known as No Life 'til Leather and it led us to our first record deal . . . the rest, as you some of you may know, is history!  We hope you enjoy this little walk down memory lane with us and that you will continue to join us in supporting independent record stores around the world.-DocFB

Diagnosis: Look for expanded versions coming on CD, vinyl and a collector's set sometime this summer.

Target To Sell High-End “Hunger Games” Merchandise

Target has hit the "Hunger Games" bullseye, selling high-end merchandise exclusively to promote the DVD release of the movie August 18th.

According to Variety, the chain will be selling a 14-carat gold reproduction of Katniss Everdeen's Mockingjay pin for $999, a replica of her leather hunting jacket for $349 and a lithograph signed by pic's cast, including Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, for $699.

All three will only be available on Target's website, beginning midnight Aug. 18, with only 100 of the pins and lithographs, and 50 jackets available over three days.

In stores, the company will sell more traditional movie merchandise -- from backpacks and lunchboxes to jewelry, pillow cases and life-size cardboard cut-outs of the film's characters -- with prices starting at a more manageable $7.

Walmart is bundling the DVD and Blu-ray with a Mockingjay pendant and downloads of bonus content, including looks at the stunts and fashions from the pic through Vudu. Best Buy offers its own limited edition collectible with its two-disc combo packs, while Costco is theming its boxed set around the film's District 12 with bonuses, including a necklace. Prices range from $21-$45.
