Tom Cruise is King Of The Box Office Again With “Oblivion”
Tom Cruse has had a heck of year so far. Some good, some bad. The good? He is king of the box office again as "Oblivion" took in $38 million in its opening weekend in the U.S.
Coming in second is "42", the Jackie Robinson bio flick which was number one last week. It took in $18 million.
"Oblivion" took in more in its first weekend than the last "Mission Impossible" movie if you can believe that.
The Doc Digged "Oblivion" Big Time!
Tom Cruise appeared on "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" where he talked about his own stunts and still being fit at 50.
Congrats to Tom to returning to the top and Universal Pictures for believing in Cruise and a director only making his 2nd movie.-DocFB

Sex & The City 2 Can’t Beat Shrek Audience

Sex & The City 2 Promo Photo
Shrek Forever After dominated the box office this weekend with Sex & The City 2 and Jake Gyllenhaal's abs in Prince of Persia giving the green thing some competition, but in the end, ended up on top.
Shrek made $55 million and Prince of Persia made $37.8 million, with Sex & The City 2 made $37.1 million, to come in 3rd.
Sex & The City 2 is not going over well with many longtime fans of the TV show and the first movie.
The faithful though will most likely be waiting for Sex & The City 3 to be released however. I am surprised it came in 3rd to be honest. It's been a while since there has been a movie released mainly for women.

“Avatar” Continues Streak As Box Office Has Record-Breaking Weekend
"Avatar" holds on to the number 1 spot at the box office despite a big Christmas opening for Robert Downey Jr.'s "Sherlock Holmes" and the box office had it's highest total in quite some time.
Over the 3 day weekend, people bought about $278 million in tickets, which was more than the $261 million that the box office made when "The Dark Knight Returns" opened. It just shows, despite the bad economy, people want to go to the movies and be entertained.
1. Avatar: $75 million
2. Sherlock Holmes $65 million
3. Alvin & The Chipmunks 2 $50 million
4. It's Complicated $22 million
5. Up In The Air $11 million
"Nine" only made a little over $5 million. "Avatar" has taken in $212 million domestically.
The industry is expecting the business to continue through the next weekend.-Dr.FB

Sandra Bullock Blind Sides New Moon From #1 Spot
Sandra Bullock took on "New Moon" and in the end, she won!
Both movies debuted 3 weeks ago with "New Moon" setting records. Bullock's movie "Blind Side" movie would have been number 1 any other weekend. Last weekend, her movie stayed very strong while "New Moon" had a hefty decline.
In it's 3rd week of release, " Blind Side" declined but not as much as "New Moon" and now has the number 1 spot, which is a rarity for movies to do nowadays.
Congrats to Sandra Bullock for her second number 1 movie of the year, as "he Proposal" was number 1 earlier this year.-Dr.FB

New Moon Stays At #1; Sandra Bullock Stays Strong
New Moon stayed at number 1 over the turkey weekend. It dropped over 70% percent over it's opening weekend. Yikes for the Twilights!
It did take in $275 million from Wednesday to Sunday for the best Thanksgiving Weekend ever in ticket sales however.
Sandra Bullock's movie "Blind Side" made an impressive $35 million last week and this week brought in $42 million, actually doing better in it's second week, which I believe has not happened since "The Hangover" earlier this year.
I am telling you all; that blond wig of Sandra's is gonna get her nominated for an Oscar.-Dr.FB

New Moon Has Record Opening
New Moon raked in $140 million dollars on it's opening weekend. It did almost double as what Twilight did when it opened to $69 million.
Only "The Dark Knight Returns" and "Spider-Man 3" did better.
A surprise at the box office was Sandra Bullock's latest movie, "The Blind Side" which took 2nd place with $35 million. Almost any other weekend, that would have been enough for first place. 2012 dropped to 3rd bringing in 26 Million after taking in over $60 million last week.
