"I am here, where r u?" Prince's new song "Cause and Effect" premiered on Minneapolis public radio station 89.3 the current this morning. It should also be up on Prince's website, lotusflow3r.com, later today.

MPLS’ 89.3 To Premiere New Prince Song This Friday

Are u ready 4 the funk?!?!?!

Minneapolis public radio station 89.3 the current reports that  they'll premiere a new track by Prince this Friday (7am) entitled "Cause and Effect". Prince has been a supporter of the public station, even attending their 5th birthday party at Minneapolis' First Avenue last month. The station describes the new song:

...it's a rocker - filled with virtuosic guitar work, explosive drum breaks, a poppy chorus, trademark shrieks and whoops, some intriguing lyrics ("if I had the chance to do it all again / I wouldn't change a thing except my next of kin") and a call to mankind ("you need compassion"). Opening with Prince's classic pop smarts, the last minute of the tune swerves into a propulsive minor key guitar/strings/drum workout like we haven't heard from him in years.

To hear the new song from Prince, tune in to 89.3 this Friday at 7am Minneapolis time. If you're not in Minni, tune in via the live stream on their website. The track will also be available that morning on Prince's website, lotusflow3r.com.

Prince has been in the news recently because of an Irish trial over the cancellation of his Croke Park gig in the summer of 2008. Rather than take the witness stand, maybe "Cause and Effect" will be Prince's official statement on the matter?
