Chaka Khan 2011

Chaka Khan along with Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, El Debarge & Jill Scott performed at this years Essence Festival in New Orleans this weekend.  After El Debarge performed, Chaka took the stage and in the middle of her set, talked about her past drug addictions.

We are not sure if maybe the message was for El Debarge who recently fell off the wagon and was back in rehab, but Chaka talked about it.  It was about the song "Troubled Little Angel" and this is what Chaka said.

"This next song is a song I wrote but I don't remember writing it because I was high,"  "That was then, this is now, I'm seven years clean."

Chaka also talked in the past to Mary J. Blige about drug addictions and attributes Chaka to getting clean.

We are proud of Chaka and hope she stays on the road to recovery.-Dr.FB

Eric Benét has a new CD on it's way November along with a tour as well.

Eric will be touring for the new CD entitled "Lost In Time" and will be playing with American Idol winner Fantasia.

If the CD sounds nostalgic to listeners, there is a reason.  Eric is trying to bring that 70's soul sound back.  He will have duets with Faith Evans, Chrisette Michele, Ledisi, and the O’Jays’ Eddie Levert.

“People just need to have some feel good R&B in their lives,” says Eric.  “I want people to remember what music can feel like, and that desire took me all the way back to that time. My development as an artist is a direct result of being immersed in that era.”

Eric also returned to his roots of his hometown of Milwaukee when it came time to record the CD.  He even recorded with the Milwaukee Symphony Strong section for the CD. “When it comes to something that resonates in your soul, you have to have something constructed with live musicians.”

"Sometimes I Cry" is currently number 5 on the Urban AC Chart.  We must say, we are looking forward to something new from this cat.-Dr.FB

An Era Ends With Passing Of Roy E. Disney

Roy E. Disney died at the age of 79 on December 16th, 2009 after a battle with stomach cancer.

Roy was the nephew of Walt Disney and under Roy's leadership, Disney became a force to be reckoned with when it came to films when he took over the film division in the early 90's including Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aladdin (1992) and Fantasia 2000 (1999), a sequel to the original from 60 years before.

Roy has had battles with Disney owners to try and stay true to the vision that Walt would have had, having him come to blows with Walt's own son in law Ron Miller in the 80's.  He brought in Micheal Eisner to replace Miller before his success with the movie division. Ironically enough, Roy & Michael went to battle 20 years after that.

Eisner forced Roy out of Disney and beign on the board by changing the age limit of board members to the exact age of Roy. Roy mave resigned but it was by force but he started a revolt that led to Eisner having to resign from his position himself.  Eisner had a year left on his contract before resigning but fell out of favor with other board members for his treatment of Roy and Disney's recent decline under his watch.

Roy is survived by his 4 children and wife and an ex-wife and unfortunately, none of the work for the company.

Thank you Roy E. Disney for your leadership and for inspiring millions of people young at heart for their dreams and enjoyment for decades to come.-Dr.FB

You guessed it, Fantasia Barrino has just snatched up her own reality show on VH1.  She will be graciously following the footsteps of Flavor Flav, Brooke Hogan, and the stunning Danny Bonaduce.

I think I'll stick to watching re-runs of Keyshia Cole's reality show.  That sh** is ghetto fabulous.  Keyshia is much better on the eyes.....OUCH!!!

VH1, please bring back Bonaduce, I love his swag!
