First Look: Andre 3000 As Jimi Hendrix In “All Is By My Side”

Andre 3000 As Jimi Hendrix Promo Photo

Andre 3000 is about to star in "All Is By My Side" where he plays Jimi Hendrix in this bio movie. The movie was written and directed by John Ridley who just won an Oscar for "12 Years A Slave" for Best Screenplay.

The scene surrounds Jimi's decision in moving to London. "All By My Side" will be screened next week at SXSW.-DocFB

Diagnosis: The Hendrix state was reluctant to let any of Jimi's music appear in the film so do not expect to hear any of Hendrix's music in the film.

Andre 3000 is set to play Jimi Hendrix in "All Is By My Side". The photo has been provided by the Toronto International Film Festival.

Despite the Hendrix estate not granting any of Jimi's music to be used in the film, Andre thinks the movie will be a success....

“In researching him, I saw a lot of the paths that he went down were the same ones that I went down when I was a young kid. He did what he thought was right for his music. I always gravitated towards him. ... This movie is the real s*** right here. I think people will learn things they didn't know."-DocFB

Diagnosis: Cool photo. Since we can't hear Jimi's music, Andre will really have to become him in different ways in the movie. It will be hard. Could you imagine Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles without Ray's music being used and performed in the film?

Warner Bros. Records Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Warner Bros. is celebrating it's 50th Anniversary with this video montage of the amazing artists who have worked for the WB.

With the way the Internet has changed the music game, it will be a miracle if they make it to see a 60th Anniversary. (So, ahem, can they get the master's back before then?)

Who was the first artist to kick off the video montage of Warner's greatest artists? Watch and find out, but you really shouldn't be surprised.

Blink and you'll miss Madonna. Hehe.-Dr.FB

Update: as of 12/22/02, Warner Bros. have removed ALL videos from youtube.  It was the label's decision and not one particular artist.-Dr.FB
