Is Mariah Carey tripping over Whitney Houston's return? Rumors are circulating about it. Mariah's new CD was set to debut later this month but was pushed back. The reason? Whitney Houston's return CD was set to drop the following week.
Now, Mariah's CD has been pushed back to mid-September and Whitney's is now coming out August 31st. Mariah is competitive, but I am sure she wished her CD was not coming out around Whitney's. There used to be rumors of a rival between the two divas that seemed to be squashed when they recorded together. Now? Maybe not so much.
Let's be real here OK?
Whitney's voice is nowhere near the powerhouse it was on say songs such as "I Will Always Love You" and "I Have Nothing" back in the early 90's. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with age. Her public struggles with drug use, nothing she has admitted too publicly although going into drug rehab centers in the public eye and her denial of "Crack is Whack" in an interview with Diane Sawyer.
Mariah's voice appears to have suffered the same fate if you watched her "America's Got Talent" performance of "Obsession" last week. There has been no known proof aside from rumors that her 2001 psych ward visit was brought on by bad drug trips before the release of "Glitter", where her voice took a downturn as well. Nothing to do with age, but only, rumors of drug use.
Mariah may be tripping but I think it has more to do with the material of her new CD and not so much as Whitney's, whose latest single written by Alicia Keys "Million Dollar Bill" and is blowing up. I hope both artists will be successful, but in the end, the product will speak for itself, and not exactly the release date.-Dr.FB
