Spider-Man has found a new director and his favorite season may be summer.

Marc Webb, the director of “500 Days of Summer” will now be the director for Marvel Films successful franchise, Spider-Man.

Sony Pictures & Marvel Studios made the announcement on Tuesday.   The first movie is set to debut in 2012 and will feature a younger version of the Peter Parker character.

Webb had this to say when asked if he was taking over for Sam Rami’s Spider-Man; “No. I am looking for opportunity for ideas, stories and histories that will add a new dimension, canvas and creative voice to ‘Spider-Man.’ “

As a Spider-Man and comic book fan, I sure hope Webb does a great job.

Broken Embraces Sony Pictures/ Cannes Film Festival

Penelope Cruz reunites with Pedro Almodovar once more in “Broken Embraces.”  This was a Cannes film festival favorite, due to hit New York on November 20, 2009.

The Smurfs movie has found a director and it didn’t to look far.  Director of the live action Scooby-Doo movies Raja Gosnell will now direct a live action/animated movie of the love able 80’s blue….things.

It is due to be released in December of 2010.  This has stinker written all over it.  Even Gargamel doesn’t want any part of these smurfs.  Live action actors and animation?  Oh boy.  Just do us a favor and have netflix host the premiere party when it comes out.   Thanks.-Dr.FB
