It is time for #tbt #ThrowbackThursday with "Kokomo" by The Beach Boys. The song was released in July of 1988.
"Kokomo" was featured on the soundtrack to the Tom Cruise movie "Cocktail" and hit number one in the U.S., Japan, and in Australia where it stayed at the top spot for almost 2 months.
On the original "Kokomo" demo version, lead vocals were performed by Mike Love and Terry Melcher. The demo harmonies include Terry Melcher, Bruce Johnston, Mike Love, and Jeff Foskett. At Disney Films' request, the "Kokomo" demo was "upgraded" to a master recording, thus requiring members of the Beach Boys to re-record the demo vocals, except for Mike Love's lead.
The final recorded and released "Kokomo" background vocals are sung by Carl Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, and Al Jardine. Terry Melcher's and Jeff Foskett's demo vocals were erased and replaced by Carl Wilson's and Al Jardine's vocals. The final released "Kokomo" lead vocals are sung by Mike Love and Carl Wilson.
The video was shot in less than 2 hours due to threatening rain. Actor John Stamos can be seen in the video playing bongos, conga, and a steel drum.-DocFB

David Lynch hosted the "Change Begins Within" benefit show at the Radio City Music in New York to promote children being taught meditation in schools for relaxation and creativity.
While the premise of the benefit sounds wacky, the believers in the organization that turned up to show their support included: Eddie Vedder (From Pearl Jam), Sheryl Crow, Moby, Bettye Levette, Paul Horn, Donovan, Mike Love (From The Beach Boys), Jerry Seinfeld, Ben Harper, Howard Stern, Laura Dern, David Lynch, and the first public performance of Paul McCartney & Ringo Star since the passing of George Harrison.
The 6,000 seat venue gave a thunderous applause for a set that included "Yellow Submarine", "Blackbird", "With A Little Help From My Friends", "Drive My Car", "Jet", "Band On The Run", "Let It Be", "Lady Madonna" and "I Saw Her Standing There".
Wow! Have to Thank GED for this report and photos! What an amazing night.-Dr.FB
