Sad news comes today with the passing of Wayne Allwine, voice of beloved worldwide icon Mickey Mouse. Allwine, who has provided Mickey’s voice for the past 32 years, passed away Tuesday from complications of diabetes. Allwine first voiced the famous mouse on The New Mickey Mouse Club and has since been Mickey’s voice in Mickey’s Christmas Carol, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Prince and the Pauper, and House of Mouse, among many other shows, movies, theme parks, and video games.

Allwine began at Disney Studios as a mail clerk in 1966 and worked his way up to becoming an award-winning sound editor at the company. He was married to Russi Taylor, who has voiced Minnie Mouse since 1986, and is survived by his children Erin, Allison, Peter, Christopher, Joshua, and grandson Isaac.
