Driving 270 miles can really make you think. The whole time I was thinking how exciting it was going to be to see Holly Madison in Planet Hollywood’s Peep Show. Being a fan of The Girls Next Door for the past year, Holly starring in the show is the reason I went. The theater was very easy to find, and I had no problem picking up my tickets (I sat on the main floor towards the back). I was wondering how the set up of this show was going to be, because I felt a mixture of expectations watching the teaser for it. It looked like an exotic, burlesque show mixed in with a plot of children’s nursery rhymes.
In the beginning, I was a little bored, because they were doing musical numbers singing about nursery rhymes and Holly Madison basically came out on stage and sat with her back to the audience watching everyone else sing and dance for about 20 minutes. But then, Holly became more active in the central plot of the show when the main singer told the audience she was helping Holly find a man.
By far, the funniest part of the show is when Holly gets to meet “Mr. Right,” who is chosen from the audience. The poor, unlucky fellow is strapped to a bed with girls half naked rubbing up against him which includes a finale of Holly painting him pink. A true spectacle to see. Then the show takes on a whole new twist. From the beginning of made up songs involving nursery rhymes and cheesy, nursery costumes; it suddenly changes to a modern dance musical with sexy, sparkling undergarments. I was serenaded with exciting dance numbers by Kelis, Madonna, and others. One of my favorite parts of the show is when three girls jump into a huge tank of “milk” and show off just how much they are taking off underwater pressing up against the glass teasing the audience of what they will and will not see. It truly was unique in its form, unlike anything I had seen in many of the shows on the strip. I give kudos to the girls who had to be right on mark with all the complicated choreography in unison.
The other thrilling part of the show was watching the girls pole dance. I saw incredible pole climbing feats I’ve never seen before, and I do watch a lot of pole dancing techniques on youtube. I was impressed by the acrobatics of a male dancer who climbed a rope while hanging over a bathtub and thrilling the audience into the bigger question of the moment, “Will he fall?” The best dance number of the entire night was the rendition of “Pony” by Ginuwine. The girls sat on saddles while one girl swung in the air while grinding on top of hers. It was beyond hot, and remember I’m a straight woman saying this. Imagine what the men thought. Finally, at the end of the show, we see Madison dancing in a disco ball club setting with the entire cast. She has undergone her character arc within the plot of the show: from being a lonely, love struck girl to a confident, independent woman until the right man comes along and sweeps her off her feet. We never find out if she does find Mr. Right after all, but she definitely becomes a booty shaking dancer by the end of the night. And to answer the big question on everyone’s mind: Did Madison take it off? Well my answer to that is, you will just have to see the show yourself to find out. I give it three stars out of four compared to most of the shows on the Las Vegas strip, and definitely four stars when it comes to exotic, burlesque, topless dance shows. It definitely gives Zumanity a run for it’s money which is a show I hold in very high regards. Cirque du Soleil watch out, Peep Show is in town.
Thank you very much to our special reporter and friend JM. Holly just signed on to do another year of the Peep Show and Aubrey O’Day has joined on as well.-Dr.FB
