Question: Who Would You Want To See Perform A Prince Tribute At The BET Awards?

Prince BET Awards 2010

This is just a question I am asking myself.

If there is a Prince tribute at the BET Awards June 27th, who would you want to see perform that tribute?

  1. Hmmm. Like the others have mentioned: LG On Bass, Chaka, Morris & The Time(Original Line Up), Shelia E, Patti Labelle, Jill Scott,Rosie Ganes, Revolution (reunion),Santana, Stevie on keyboards, Maxwell, LK. Plus, I’ll also throw Ceelo, and Stokley of Mint Condition in the mix.

  2. I agree with many here, that Lenny Kravitz, Maxwell, Janelle Monae (<–yay!), J*Davey (could do SOTT w/Prince);Larry Graham, Chaka, Pattie LaBelle, Tevin Campbell, Morris Day & The Time;definitely Sheila E;Alicia Keys;Common;Stevie Wonder.

  3. Stevie Wonder: Anotherloverholenyohead
    Tevin Campbell: Shhh
Alicia Keys: How Come U Don’t Call Me No More
D’angelo: She’s always in my hair
    Chaka Khan: I feel 4 U
    Patti Labelle: Adore/Purple Rain
Lenny Kravitz: When U were Mine
    The Time: 777-9311
    Maxwell_ Diamonds & Pearls
Janelle Monae: Sign “O” the Times
Beyonce: If I was Ur Girlfriend

  4. I want to see Prince do his own music. However, I think seeing Jonny Lang, Lenny K., John Mayer, Maxwell, and Outkast would be cool.

  5. I want to see Prince to his own tribute, like the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Maybe, Lenny, Jonny Lang, John Mayer, Maxwell and Outkast.

  6. A. Black Artist for Tribute: Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Outkast, D’Angelo, Jill Scott, Janelle Monae & The Dream (what a line up!)

    B. Non-Black Artist for Tribute: No Doubt/Gwen Stafani, MGMT, Justin Timberlake, Fall Out Boy & Santana (showing how much his music has crossed over & influenced new genres).

  7. D’Angelo. I keep hearing he is bout to drop a new album. It would be good to see him honoring, Prince.

  8. Yep. i he could just combine them all on one stage. it would be the show of shows

  9. I would love to see Prince, the Time, Sheila E, Chaka Khan, Rosie Gaines…now that would be hot…

  10. Ya’ll know there is no way Prince will allow anyone to perform his songs. He will do it himself.

  11. The only person I want to see perform at the awards is Prince himself…..no one can do his music better than him 🙂

  12. i definitely think janelle monae would be a great candidate for the tribute. i hear he’s a supporter of hers anyway…

  13. Justin Bieber! SERIOUSLY! LOL

  14. Chaka Khan Stevie Wonder Rosie Gaines Mavis Staples Sheila E…. but, yeah … i would love 2 c ‘n listen again all The Revolution!

  15. I would NOT want to see Mary J Blige. Tired of her.

  16. Has to be Santana, Alicia Keys, Slash, Stevie Wonder & Sade.

  17. Definitely got to throw Maxwell and Alicia Keys in there!! Also would be great to see “The Revolution” on stage!!!

  18. Oops… I forgot to mention Stevie as well… (how could foget him.. Duh!)

  19. I’d love to see Lenny Kravitz, Kip Blackshire, Sheila E, Rosie Gaines, Nikka Costa, Beyonce, Eric Clapton, Slash, The Time and Patti LaBelle.

I think Prince would probably get a kick out of having Larry G and Chaka there as well.

  20. George Lynch (guitar)
    Steven Adler (drums)
    Adam Levine (vocals)
    Jack Blades (Slap’n Da Bass)

  21. Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys, Outkast, ….

  22. I’d love to see Beyoncé do a full blown version of ‘God’.
Or Lady Gaga performing Darling Nikki.

Stevie Wonder singing Purple Rain would be awesome.

  23. Stevie Wonder on keys
    John Blackwell on drums
    Chaka Khan on backing vocals
    LG on Bass
    Janelle Monae on backing vocals

  24. Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan & Rosie Gaines. Fierce!

  25. I can make up a list of over a dozen, but how about the artists he adores and admires, like:
    Stevie Wonder
