I really hope he has the courage to continue with this tour and setlist without resorting to samplersets or Prince megahits to please a member in the audience. IMO That wouldn't be fair to the girl in 3rd Eye. Let it roll and use the freedom of this small tour to step out of comfortzones and shred the airwaves with different stuff or takes. Keep up the daring setlist. It's sparkly. Thanks.
Here are photos from last night's kick off show for the Live Out Loud Tour by PRINCE & 3rdEyeGirl in Vancouver.

As for reviews, we are leaving that in your hands. Since these shows are meant for the hardcore fans, you would understand them better than the pencil pushers.
Here is a review from DJ SKEE, photos and set list from the camp as well.

Diagnosis: 32 Shows Left!
Prince is at his absolute best... Everything I have heard him perform with 3rdEyeGirl is Great!! He also looks Hot and loving his look in these photos. I hope he adds Pink Cashmere to the upcoming set lists. That is such a great song and love the guitar in that one!! Pretty Please, Prince come to Detroit with the Girls. This band is tight!! Love them and U!!
Prince is KICKING OFF the LIVE OUT LOUD Tour in RARE FORM. He's Looking Healthy and GREAT! WAY 2 GO PRINCE I LOVE U! I Hope I get a chance 2 see U on this LIVE OUT LOUD TOUR!!
We saw the early show on Tuesday night and knew not to expect a 'greatest hits' show. He started with let's go crazy (which I understood he encored the night before) and moved right in to his new material. I've never seen Prince perform live before and didn't know what to expect but it was fantastic--and I wish I'd gotten tickets to the late show. I don't understand why the professional reviewers didn't comment on how great his new material is. Prince is an incredible musician and shouldn't be negatively reviewed by whether or not he played little red corvette! His encore for the early show was a surprising rendition of 'let's go' by the cars and 'crimson and clover.' Like I said--wish I'd seen more.
This was my first time seeing Prince after the stars not aligning a couple of other times. As a guitarist, i thought the shows were great - much heavier and more rock oriented than I expected. For fans of only his pop hits, I could see how it could be a bit much. I saw both Night 1 shows (after taking advantage of the free late show ticket I got for paying full price for the first show). Although the set lists (except for one encore song) were the same, the second show was the better one for me. Since the songs are stretched out to include so much improv, they were not by-the-books performances but rather were allowed to breathe as the muse struck. This was pure music.
Just hoping we see Prince in scotland again. The new venue called "The Hydro"would be ideal for these kind of shows.I'm glad he's back after 2 years and i cant wait for uk announcements.I would pay the price for a ticket but im disappointed that prince would charge like this after the price of the 3121 tickets.
Big Dee, you have no idea. These are way better than Austin....where he did not even play his guitar. Are you insane???
Saw all 4 in Vancouver. These shows are off the hook!! Completely amazing! Wicked wicked guitar frenzy all night long. Way better than the aftershows I have seen, never mind the big stadium shows where you have to wait all night to see him shred his guitar for 5 minutes. This was 2 hours of Prince channelling Jimi. Plus small venue. Try to get a wristband for the front of stage section. I got there twice!! So amazing!! Do not miss. If we had 4 more I would see them too.
I have been reading lots of various comments about this west coast tour and am sick of people complaning about the ticket prices. The wife and I have seen Prince 11 times over the years, and you get what you pay for. The chance to see one of the GREATEST musicians, and preformers in an intimate setting is priceless. So sit back and enjoy the ride. DNA Lounge in 7 days is where I will be. Late show for me!!
The 'pencil pushers' viewed the same shows that the 'hardcore fans' viewed. I'll consider every review equally relevant and take them as a whole. If Prince takes the money more seriously than he takes journalists' reviews, he's way out of line; he's even further out of line if he doesn't care.
I was at both shows on opening nite in Vancouver, they were AMAZING!!! Worth every single penny I spent! The band is tight! It was a phenomenal stripped down performance full of rock, funk, a little grunge and more funk! It was outstanding. I have now seen Prince 11 times live and the second show last night was my favourite of all of them. The girls rocked it, Prince was well Prince. He sang, he danced, he played with the crowd, he was coy, he is a phenomenal musician. By the end of the nite, his guitar was smoking. Stellar performances by a musical genius!!!
Amazing shows! Donna, Hannah, Ida, and Prince-ah rocked the socks off the Vogue. Lights, Camera, Make A Scene . . . Endorphinmachine. I hope some different songs are played for tonight's sets. I don't mean the hits either! I still preferred the amazing show at Barnone, December 2011, but he did not sing there . . . he definitely sung last night.
This is a f#$%ing DREAM set list. I am so excited for the SF shows. Having seen the set list and read the reviews, I have decided to head down to SoCal for the Anaheim shows as well. Hope my tax refund comes soon! Thank you Prince!
Been debating whether or not to get tickets to the San Diego show. If that's the setlist for the show here, I'm not going. $250 for 3rdEyeGirl promotional tour? Heck no.... I was expecting epic shows like the one in Austin
YESSSS!!! I'm LOVING the setlist. Can't wait for the San Francisco shows. Bring it on Prince! Sounds like us hardcores are going to be in absolute heaven (as I am just reading the Vancouver setlist). My mouth is already watering.... Oh, and he looks ridiculously GOOD. From hair/head on down... wow....
Wow, great photos Dr. Funkenberry! I read some of the reviews and then decided I had read enough! People are never happy, and people will always find something to complain about, be it that he gave out free tickets, gave last minute tickets at 50% off, with some money going to charity, not enough of the old music, too much jamming....It's a new band, I think that it is amazing these young ladies have the opportuinity to work with someone as fantasstic as Prince! It sounds to me as if they are amazing, just like anyone who he has chosen! Let's just be thankful he is still doing shows, still influencing new artists, still leaving us breathless with his performances. Of course, I was NOT there, but I think he's always good! :) Have a good week!
I'd read before this that the show opened with Prince on piano playing Ain't Gon' Miss U - but on the official setlist it appears to be The Breakdown. I wonder which is accurate?
Ken, don't get too worked up. I still haven't read anything from anyone who paid to attend the shows complaining about the setlist. Princevault has tentative setlists for both shows. (Google is your friend) Hope everyone has fun at tonight's shows, I've got to wait until 13-14-15 July
maybe he should've went to Europe. majority of Americans hate the unknown & love the familiar. all the media outlets ive seen have been ripping him a new one for not playing purple rain or kiss. I'm an American from Philly btw.
It's no wonder they had to discount tickets or give them away, though, since many of his best fans can't afford the exorbitant prices.
The show was incredible. I agree with Ken Reed. Prince fans know exactly what we were going to get when we went into the Vogue. If he had been touring with NPG, as he did on his last visit to Vancouver, then, yes, I would've been let down by not performing some of the older songs. That said, I was impressed with this new music and these women can lay it down. The only thing I will say is that $275 is a lot of money. I actually preferred the jam session he did at Bar none that only cost $60. I think I preferred that one because the music was funkier. As well, Shelby J sang lead on a lot of the material. The show at the Vogue was a Jimi Hendrix infused, psychedelic rock show. All the Prince fans around me went home super happy...myself included. These shows are intended for long time fans who are willing to go on his musical journey. I'm willing and able anywhere, anytime.
This dude is like Timex...Just keep on ticking....Its amazing the energy he still has. Can't wait till he hits Cali!!!!!#7V3N
It was an amazing show. Raw- fresh- LOUD! The lighting was amazing, a show in itself seeing the back ligh come through his fabulous hair. The shadows... The sound excellent. The venue- sigh! Amazing! I was able to see both shows front row as Hannah's hubby was giving out VIP wristbands, so experiencing him so close, the energy, the rock and roll!! The set list was for pure hard fans only and probably why I loved it so much!! Did I want more? Of course! My Prince fix can never be satisfied and I would have loved to hear him jan into the night.. He always leaves us wanting more, but he always comes through. It was the best show I have seen and talking to other fans in the audience and while cueing to get in to the second show after having seen the first, the feeling was the same. Genius. Brilliant. 3rdeyegirl is wonderful and talented and this is going to be a show/tour that goes down in the books for sure!! Only downside- no merchandise! I wanted a shirt or tourbook..
Boy Howdy thats looks like a man that is blowing off some steam!!!! We can wait to ROCK on May 1st late show. I told my wife I hope he rocks it out and oh yah baby ROCK IT!!!!
I am so tired of hearing reviews explaining how Prince is not doing a "best of" set list. Many of us appreciate the fact that he is rocking out with a great new and fresh band. It is a shame that many modern audiences who do go to see Prince and other great artists prefer the redundant, over the remarkable. Let us appreciate the true greats while we can!
booyah, the setlist were sent in by his people directly. If it was someone outside the camp, we would credit them as always. :)
