10 Mar Review: Liv Warfield Takes Over L.A. Unexpectedly With Powerful Shows
LiV Warfield performed at the Sayers Club last night in Los Angeles, 2 days after setting the Palladium on fire with a show there.
The Palladium show was longer but the Sayers Club still had the same energy of the big show, due to LiV’s powerful voice, her band Blackbird, the NPG Hornz, and her two back up singers Saeeda Wright and Ashley Seamster. Ryan Waters guitar skills are no joke!
Warfield kicked off the show with a powerful version of “The Unexpected” quickly followed in succession by “Catch Me If You Can” with LiV coming out of the small stage to interact with the crowd. The stage is so tiny at Sayers, the NPG Hornz were located to the left of the stage.
“Soul Lifter” which was performed on Arsenio was next with Liv belting away at the ballad and getting the crowd behind her more and more each second.
“Don’t Say Much” was one of my favorite of the nights with its infectious groove and melody. “Why Do You Lie?” which was debuted on Fallon last month got the crowd pumping their fists while singing along.
All in all, it was a set under an hour which was extremely enjoyable followed by a cool encore with LiV’s back up singers performing “Crazy” as Doug E. Fresh laid down his rap over it followed by a beat boxing battle with the drummer.
LiV is an extremely talented singer whose new album “The Unexpected” should be in your collection.-DocFB
Diagnosis: In this day and age of disposable music, we have to support LiV. Her huge band may make it a little more pricey but your ears will thank us later.
