Garth Brooks is sitting pretty at number one this week on the Billboard Album Charts with a box set that is only available at Wal-Mart.
Brooks set "Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences," sold 146,000 in its second week on the charts, preventing Britney Spear's new album "Britney Jean" from debuting at number one with only 107,000 copies sold, her lowest number ever for first week sales and debuting at number 4.
Garth's set includes 6 CD's and 2 DVD's and it is his 9th number one album. The set is only $29.99 for everything and is on sale for less than $25.00. It is the first multi-disc album to hit number one since 2003.
One Direction dropped to number 2 with 117,000 copies sold.
Sales are still down when comparing numbers to last years unit's moved, a trend that the music industry just cannot stop.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Now did each CD count 6 times as a sale or did the box set just count as one sale? Hmm....
Britney Spears has released a video for "Perfume" from her new album Britney Jean.
Britney plays the new woman trying to make sure her man does not go back to his ex-girlfriend and hoping her "Perfume" gets all over him so the ex knows that Spears has marked her territory.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Great video but in the YouTube age will Britney have a hit with no controversy? If only there was a Music Network who actually could play videos again.....
Britney Spears took it old school today, penning an open letter to her fans on pen and paper, then releasing the album cover to "Britney Jean" and letting you know she is a mom, is funny, and is your friend.
The artwork for the album is a black and white shot with Britney Jean in neon lights, which you can see above. Her written letter is below:
I haven’t sat down to write you guys in SUCH a long time. Long overdue! We’re all so used to getting our thoughts out in 140 characters, but sometimes its nice to take time to sit down and write something a little longer and more personal. I am putting the finishing touches on my new album, “Britney Jean” over the next few days and I am so excited for you to hear it. I poured my heart and soul into this album and it’s been an incredible journey. I’ve learned a lot about myself, and as I am finishing, I am reminded of the incredible foundation that has supported me for the last 15 years. Thank you all for continuing to follow me on this journey and for allowing me to do what I love to do. I can’t believe this is my eighth studio album and I know I keep telling you that it is my most personal record yet, but its true and I’m really proud of that.
I have been through a lot in the past few years and it has really inspired me to dig deeper and write songs that I think everyone can relate to. Working with people like Sia, William Orbit, and of course Will.i.am has been an amazing experience. They have listened to all of my ideas and helped me bring them to life. There are a lot of really fun, upbeat dance songs, but it was important to me that I show my strength, and my attitude, and my vulnerability. Of course, I also have some surprises for you guys
I want to show you the different sides of Britney Spears. I am a performer. I am a Mom. I am funny. I am your friend! I am Britney Jean.
Hope you love my labor of love!
15 years in business. Well, as a solo singer. If you count the Mickey Mouse Club, it is over two decades.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Well, we say the "Work Bitch" side of Britney so far.....and now this open letter. What will we see from Britney next? "Womanizer" part two?
How will Miley Cyrus respond this time as another music legend goes after her, Britney and Rihanna this time?
Lennox of The Eurythmics for those don't know, doesn't name names but it is clear she is going after Miley, Rihanna and even Britney Spears latest music video "Work Bitch" which was released 2 days before "Pour It On" by Rihanna.
Lennox took to Facebook for her open letter:
'I have to say that I'm disturbed and dismayed by the recent spate of overtly sexualised performances and videos.
'You know the ones I'm talking about. It seems obvious that certain record companies are peddling highly styled pornography with musical accompaniment.
'As if the tidal wave of sexualised imagery wasn't already bombarding impressionable young girls enough..I believe in freedom of speech and expression, but the market forces don't give a toss about the notion of boundaries.
'As long as there's booty to make money out of, it will be bought and sold. It's depressing to see how these performers are so eager to push this new level of low.'
Britney Spears has just released the video for "Work Bitch" and it is hot! Although dropping the "B" word a lot, it is saying if you want the finer things in life, you better work for it!
Britney is looking great! Her Vegas shows are selling like hotcakes and grapes. Get it!-DocFB
Diagnosis: Will this surpass Miley Cyrus for the most views in one day? Guess we will find out in 24 hours...
Britney Spears has released an S&M type photo from her "Work Bitch" video with her with a whip in hand while a girl is on bended knee in front of her.
Ben Mor is the director of "Work Bitch" which has yet to be released and no release date as of yet.
Britney Spears will be starting her Las Vegas run on December 27th in Planet Hollywood.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Sasha Grey, where U at?
The follow-up to Britney Spear's Smurfs 2 song is "Work Bitch" and we are sure Papa Smurf isn't tripping on it.
It kind of sounds like Britney mixed with Katy Perry on auto-tune speed.
The bass of the song is going to sound great in the club though.
In 4 days, Britney Spears will be dropping her first single in a while "Work Bitch" and today, she dropped the cover artwork!
Britney is dressed as a Vegas show girl which makes us wonder about those rumors of her signing up to do a Las Vegas run for a couple of years.
"Work Bitch" is written by Will.I.Am, Britney, and 4 other people. So 6 people altogether.-DocFB
Diagnosis: I am just glad it wasn't called "Twerk Bitch!"....
