We are hearing rumors in Hollywood that Taylor Swift is the front runner for an upcoming Supergirl movie. What?

I am not sure if I am liking this choice or not.  I mean, I have seen her play the nerdy girl, so she can play the mild-mannered secret identity part.  I am not so sure she could play the Supergirl part however.  Maybe if they are only going for the cute Supergirl look and not the hot Supergirl look.

Sorry to all the Swift fans.  Maybe you can make me see the light.  Do you guys think that Taylor Swift would make a good Supergirl?-Dr.FB

More Info On Upcoming Green Lantern Movie

Posted in Celebrity News, Entertainment, Movies on June 16th, 2009 by drfunkenberry

Green Lantern. Art Courtesy DC ComicsMarvel Comics is not the only one with big movie news as DC Comics through Warner Brothers Pictures announced more news regarding the upcoming “Green Lantern” movie.

Marc Guggenheim, who I had the pleasure of meeting this weekend, is writing the Green Lantern Movie.  He did a recent interview with Sci-Fi and had a lot to say. The movie, whose budget is a staggering $150 Million, still does not have a lead actor for the Hal Jordan version of the series.

Marc had this to say about the rumors that Bradley Cooper & Chris Pine are being considered for the role:

”I mean, they’re all false insofar as we haven’t chosen anyone yet. They’re still in the negotiations, you know? There’s a lot of names being talked about, and there’s a lot of people being met, and a lot of … actors reading the script.”

Marc has done a lot in the industry so far, TV, movie and in comics as well and I am pulling for the “Eli Stone” writer.  I am worried about the “150 Million” budget but have a feeling if anyone can make a profit from that, Marc and the boys can.-Dr.FB

Common Out As Green Lantern

Posted in Celebrity News, Entertainment, Movies on April 7th, 2009 by drfunkenberry

Common has been scratched as the lead in the Green Lantern film.  For almost a year and a half it seemed that he had the role as “John Stewart” locked up.

Something has happened recently and the other person up for the role was Tyrese.  Not sure if Tyrese is in the lead or they may be bringing someone else in.

Common would have been a good choice but now we will never know.-Dr.FB

Despite Mixed Reviews, Watchmen Debuts At# 1; Make $55 Million

The Watchmen pulled in $55 million, just slightly under the estimated $60 Million.

I must say that is pretty impressive with a close to 3 hour movie and the reviews not being 4 stars across the board.

“Madea Goes To Jail”, pulled in $8 million, almost $50 million less, to come in at #2.  The Tyler Perry production has raked in just under $80 million so far.

The Jonas Brothers fell out of the top 5 pulling in less than $2.8 million.  While everyone was watching the Watchmen, the Jonas Bros. went out the emergency exit back door.-Dr.FB

Megan Fox is doing two comic book movies. What you need to know is neither of them are Wonder Woman.

She has been signed to star in Fathom, which should be hot, and Jonah Hex.

Still our perfect choice for Wonder Woman.

Also, Megan was just voted the woman other women would get it on with, ending Angelina Jolie’s reign.-Dr.FB

No. 2 The Death Of Heath Ledger

The World Lost A Talented Actor In Heath Ledger. File Photo

January 22nd, 2008 in New York, Heath Ledger died.  He died of an apparent overdose.  The movie industry, movie fans, and fans of the actor were in shock.  His loved ones in disbelief.

You know when you heard his name as the one who had died, your mouth dropped.  You did a double take.  Your first thought after the shock; he was so young.  Sleeping pills did him in. Sleeping pills.

He admitted in interviews that he was having a rough time sleeping after playing the villain Joker in the latest Batman movie, the Dark Knight.  One pill, which should knock you out for 8 hours, would knock him out for 90 minutes.  So he would take several instead of understanding his body became immune to the pills shortly after taking them.

The Dark Knight movie seemed cursed from the get go.  A stuntman died the 1st week of shooting.  Another death happened.  Then Heath’s after filming.  Then Morgan Freeman escaped death in the south.  The weekend of the movie, Christian Balle’s estranged family came after him.  Crazy.  Maybe Johnny Depp may want to rethink that Riddler character.

Heath Ledger jumped on the screen in 1999’s Ten Things I Hate About You.  Having modest success with movies such as A Knight’s Tale, he took on the role of a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain.  Not getting the Oscar and jokes behind his back, Heath stood out in a role that would have been taboo and untouchable years prior, but he took the role which gained him respect.

After agreeing to take the Joker role, some questioned his acting ability to do that and how could a person who played a gay cowboy play that role.  Leaks of Heath dressed in Joker garb dispelled most of that talk and had people going, wow, he is actually going to pull this off.  It is a shame that Heath did not live to see how respected his version of the Joker is.  How respected he is.

I must reiterate; If Heath does not only get nominated for an Oscar, and if he does not win it, the Academy Awards in many industry insiders eyes, will now be deemed as useless.  Think of it as giving Denzel the Oscar for Training Day instead of the countless other movie roles he owned over the years.  Why so serious?  Because Heath Ledger was the Best in movies of 2008.-Dr.FB
