DC Comics released a teaser a week ago showing Superman & Wonder Woman hooking up on the cover of Justice League issue #12 and comic retailers are NOT happy!
Usually the teasers are released on Tuesday, the day before releases. I figured, like many, a week in advance would build up hype for the issue. I went to 2 comic book stores in Los Angeles on Monday and talked to the owners.
I asked how many people were calling ahead to reserve their copies and he said not too many. Another store said the hype was too early and people have forgotten about the hook-up already. They are worried that sales this week will not be as high as DC is projecting.
I asked if they heard about DC releasing another leak and they said there was not going to be another push for it. Even the variant cover, an alternate cover that is made in a more limited run, does not feature Superman & Wonder Woman kissing, but features Batman and Aquaman. Wouldn't it had more sense to have a variant of Clark Kent and Diana Prince kissing in the same manner?
DC relaunched all its titles which they called "The New 52" last year to much fan-fair, eliminating the marriage of Clark Kent and Lois Lane along with many other story-lines across the DC Universe. It was an attempt to make DC relevant again and at the same time, copy Marvel Comics success with what they did to the "Spider-Man" title a few years ago where his marriage to Mary Jane Watson never happened.
If the retailers concern for the early leak of the Superman/Wonder Woman will transpire to lower sales, DC Comics just lost a huge chance to remain relevant.-DocFB

The new Batman "The Dark Knight Rises" trailer has been officially released. That still is not stopping it from being taken down.
A week after Batman "The Dark Knight Rises" hit the Internet, and was taken down everywhere, Warner Bros. has officially released the trailer. It debuted with the new "Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows 2" movie over the weekend.
It features Christian Bale returning to the role of Bruce Wayne and Batman along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, and Robin Williams.

Diagnosis: Anne Hathaway Is An Interesting Choice For Catwoman, No?
In case you haven't heard, DC Comics is relaunching all 52 of their comic books with Issue # 1's this September. That means the first ever issue of Action Comics featuring Superman since 1938. More than just a number's change, there are changes to the DC characters, namely Superman. A costume change and making him single again and not with Lois Lane.
Also, Superman's adoptive parents, Jonathan & Martha Kent are dead. It will focus more on his "Kryptonian" heritage more. Gone are his red trunks as well. It kind of looks like it is just sweats or what not without the red trunks.
As for him no longer being with Lois Lane, that is expected in a reboot. Making Superman single gives his alter ego Clark Kent more storylines, such as what Marvel Comics did with Spider-Man and his alter ego Peter Parker and his marriage to Mary Jane Watson as never happening.
DC Comics is making drastic changes to its entire line, aside from Batman. Dick Grayson took over the cowl from Bruce Wayne a couple of years ago when Bruce "died" but has not returned to the mask full-time.
The New York Post was given the cover of Action Comics #1 this morning written by Grant Morrison. It features a young Superman wearing the cape and blue jeans.-Dr.FB

The new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises" trailer is supposed to debut this weekend with the new Harry Potter movie. But, someone was able to sneak a camera in to an advance screening of the movie and got the new Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trailer early.
Bane is the villain for this movie and we see Commissioner Gordon in the hospital pleading for Batman's help? Hmm. It's very dark but the effect of skyscraper's falling into the shape of a bat is cool.
Check out the trailer and let us know what you think.-Dr.FB
Diagnosis: July 2012 Is Going To Be A Hot One
It does not come out for a whole year, but that is not stopping Warner Bros. Pictures from releasing a movie poster for it now. "The Dark Knight Rises" is the 3rd Batman movie to be directed by Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale as the caped crusader straight out of the DC Comics made famous by Bob Kane.
Falling skyscrapers in the shape of the bat. Hmm. This Dark Knight will be different as he will be a wanted man by the police for the "murder" of Two-Face, Harvey Dent. Although no one knew the monster that Dent became as to protect him. There is no actual guarantee that Dent is actually dead either.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been chosen for the role of "The Riddler" although Nolan will still not confirm that is the role that Joseph has been cast for. They were first looking for Johnny Depp to play the role of the Riddler but I think Gordon-Levitt is perfect. Levitt stared with the late Heath Ledger in the movie "10 Things I Hate About You" so there is a connection between the stars and the Dark Knight Trilogy.
The movie also stars Anne Hathaway (Who is very excited to be attached to the filming and blown away during the first few weeks of filming) and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard. Also in the movie will be Liam Neeson, , Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Juno Temple, and Morgan Freeman.
It may not open until July 20th, 2012 but the Doc is looking forward to making sure he has no surgeries or appointments that day.-Dr.FB

Update: Levitt Is Playing The Role Of Alberto Falcone
Chris Evans, the new Captain America, opened the New York Stock Exchange this week along with a full movie poster behind him and the Marvel comics and film logo around him. With the economy the way it is, you would think it would be the Red Skull ringing the opening bells.
Evans opened the market and trading and one can only hope the movie is marketable for Marvel more than Green Lantern was for DC Comics and Warner Bros. Pictures.
Captain America: The First Avenger opens later this month.-Dr.FB
Diagnosis: What? No Tony Stark At The End Of Trading Making A Cameo?
This is pretty huge news. Although it seems both Marvel Comics and DC Comics have been able to not really be affected like most print media, they are making waves.
DC Comics will be lowering all of it's cover titles to $2.99. Most ranged from $2.99 to $3.99 but now all will be going back to the price of $2.99
Marvel Comics announced they will have new titles coming out in January at the price of $2.99 instead of $3.99 where they have been lately.
I am not sure if they lost customers over this but someone like myself does not go every week like he used to because of it.
What do you think of the price change?
BTW, a big shout out to Collector's Paradise for letting me know about this!-Dr.FB
