The Old School Jam Of The Moment is "Monkey" by George Michael from his best-selling album "Faith" released in 1987.
"Monkey" was released in July of 1988 hitting number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was George's eighth number one single and the 4th from the "Faith" album.
The mix above was made by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and was a huge hit at the club's and charted high on the Billboard Dance Charts!-DocFB
Diagnosis: "Monkey" is one of George's underrated songs....
"Father Figure" by George Michael is a soulful song, and one of the many reasons he has racked up several number ones on what is now called the Billboard R&B Charts.
After hitting number one on the Billboard Black Charts with "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" with Aretha Franklin, George hit number one again on the Black Charts with "Faith" and as "Father Figure" was heading to number one on the Billboard Black Charts, Motown, along with other label heavyweights went after Billboard to change the title of the Billboard Black Charts To The Billboard Soul/R&B Charts due to George Michael and other "white" artists being on the so-called Black charts.
It is now known as the R&B Charts and was once known as the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Charts. It is always embarrassing watching Award shows from back in the 80's when something would be called Best Black Single. The 80's everyone. The 80's. Paula Deen can you hear me?
Glad Billboard fixed that up by the late 80's though.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Straight up, anyone know of YOUNGER artists who can sing R&B? If you say Robin Thicke, think again please. Deep voice...
George Michael turns 50 today and as he recovers from an accident, we wish him a happy birthday!
If there would have been a big four in the 80's it would have included George Michael. His soulful voice put him at the top of then called Black Charts which made Billboard finally change it to the Soul/R&B Charts now just called the R&B Charts!
This clip is just now starting to circulate of George Michael covering "F.E.A.R." by Ian Brown. George states that this will be his first time and last time covering the song. Such a shame because it sounds so beautiful.
The gig is from Manchester back in October. Great camerawork by the way.
Check out the great cover above and let me know what you think.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Not crap at all. At. All.....
George Michael has just confirmed the rumors and officially announced he is performing at the closing ceremonies of this years Olympic games.
George took to his twitter to express his nervousness about performing at the closing ceremonies and him have not been able to perform for over a year:
Obviously a bit nervous not having played for nearly a year, but rehearsals sounding great so far!
George has a life-threatening illness last year that left him with no voice and losing a considerable amount of weight. Aside from a press conference after his release where he thanked the doctors for saving his life, George has been pretty much out of the public eye. he does have dates in Australia set for later this year.
George has not announced which songs he will be performing but we have a feeling it will be jam-packed with his hits from the 80's, and 90's, and hopefully a never before released song....because as much as I LOVE George, that last song was.....not even worthy of a bronze medal.
Are you looking forward to George Michael's performance at the closing ceremonies?-DocFB
Until George Michael tweets about it, I don't believe it. BUT, news is circulating this morning that Wham! is set to reunite for....ONE NIGHT ONLY...around George Michael's new single "White Light" at the end of June.
Wham consisted of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley til the group broke up in 1986 and George Michael's solo career took off.
This is all coming from "The Daily Mirror" which is why I'm not so sure about the story. They did break the story a few years ago of George and his boyfriend splitting although George denied it and fans attacked me on Twitter, but the story did indeed turn out to be true.
"White Light" is set for release June 29th and is a song about the illness last year that almost killed him. Also, it is 30 years since "Wham! Rap" was a hit in the UK, the band's first hit.
The source claims George and Andrew feel it is one of those now or never moments and will most likely be a one-off show. Yea, we don't really see people clamoring for a Wham! world tour to hear Andrew do back-up vocals to "Everything She Wants" anytime soon.
Were you ever a Wham! fan? Were you a bigger Wham! fan than George Michael? Harvey Levin, that question is for you too, buddy!-DocFB
UPDATE: George Michael's reps state there is no truth to the reunion.
