Print media for the most part is a dying breed in the age of the Internet and Newsweek has announced after 80 years of publishing, they will be printing their last issue on December 31st, 2012.
In 2001, the magazine had 3 million subscribers. Right now, they have less than half that number.
Newsweek has been in trouble. In 2010, the Washington Post sold Newsweek for $1.00. Yes, one dollar. It was sold to Sidney Harmon and for him to take over the magazine's financial responsibility.
Tina Brown, the magazine's editor-in-chief and who also runs "The Daily Beast" web site announced that as of December 31, 2012, Newsweek will cease publication and will be available online with The Beast web site.
In speaking with USA Today, Brown said there will be a meeting with employees of the magazine and there will be many layoffs.-DocFB

The Febuarary cover is all sorts of hotness as Daniel Craig, George Clooney, and Matt Damon are all on the cover.
The shot was taken by famous photographer Annie Leibowitz and features what Vanity Fair feels is Hollywood's top leading actors.
That really is some cover. Hmm. After Lindsay Lohan's Playboy shoot, print media is getting a small shot in the arm with this cover.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Who would you want to be?
I said earlier this week the Marge Simpson was a desperate attempt. An attempt to maybe get younger readers but desperate to also try other things and there is a reason for that.
Playboy is in trouble. It sucks because I have like every Playboy since like the early 60's until the issue before the Heidi Montag one. It was then I saw they were playing catch-up to Maxim instead of blazing trails.-Dr.FB
Alina Puscau, who is director Brett Ratner's girlfriend, and who also did the photo shoot for Playboy, in the issue with Marge Simpson on the cover.
Marge Simpson on the cover of Playboy. I know you all heard of her being on the cover, but really, come on now. I am starting to worry about Playboy as it is part of a dying breed; Print Media.
I know it has been done in the past but the Marge Simpson thing stinks of desperation. Thankfully, we have Alina. And to top it off, she is not even a blonde. Maybe Hef is thinking outside the box.-Dr.FB
The future is here as there will be videos in magazines now.
