Billie Joe Armstrong came clean when it came to his new interview with Rolling Stone magazine; he was a functioning alcoholic.
The lead singer of Green Day, who will be doing their first show since BJ exited rehab on March 10th, was very straightforward.
“I played onstage loaded a lot. I'd have anywhere from two to six beers and a couple of shots before I went onstage, then go and play the gig and drink for the rest of the evening on the bus.”
“Fall asleep, wake up the next day, feel like s***, do sound-check... it was over and over again. In that way, I was a functioning alcoholic. I've been trying to get sober since 1997, right around Nimrod. But I didn't want to be in any programs. Sometimes, being a drunk, you think you can take on the whole world by yourself. This was the last straw. I had no choices anymore,”
He also talked about his addiction to pills;
“I started combining them to a point where I didn't know what I was taking during the day and what I was taking at night. It was just this routine. My backpack sounded like a giant baby rattle."
The singer wrote a song about Amy Winehouse and did not learn her lesson. We are hoping this time, through his own experiences, he learned his own lessons.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Glad you're better....but don't fall into old habits again BJ.
Bad news for Green Day fans. They have officially cancelled their 2012 Voodoo Music & Arts Experience performance on October 27th, 2012.
There was no reason given for the band's cancellation in the statement I received but we do know that Billie Joe Armstrong checked into rehab for substance abuse a little over a week ago after the band's Iheartradio performance.
"Canceling shows is something we rarely do," said Tré Cool. "We never want to let our fans down, and we are grateful for all of you being understanding during this time."
For those that may have thought this was for show, it seems like you may be wrong.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Get Well Soon BJ!
A rep for Green Day has confirmed that Bille Joe Armstrong has checked into rehab for substance abuse. This comes 2 days after a meltdown on stage at the iHeartradio music festival.
They are cancelling some upcoming promotional appearances for ¡Uno! which is set for release this Tuesday.
During the now infamous meltdown, Billie Joe curses everyone from Usher to Justin Bieber for the festival cutting the band's set short.
There is no time table for how long Billie Joe will be in rehab.-DocFB
LeAnn Rimes has checked into rehab for stress and anxiety treatment. Where she went is undisclosed at this time.
Her reps have confirmed the story to People.com. Her rep, Marcel Pariseau stated "LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30-day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress. While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."
The singer is actually on tour and will be let out of the facility on weekends to perform. Marcel added "The facility has granted her permission to keep her weekend tour obligations, as LeAnn doesn't want to disappoint her fans. She will report back after each weekend."
LeAnn also released a statement to People.com;
"This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be. All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I'm hoping they're not going to affect me as much. I'll have the tools to know how to deal with them."
The 30-year old singer is still married to Eddie Cibrian who offers his wife his full support during this time and promised to be with her every step of the way.
Get well soon LeAnn.-DocFB
Bobby Brown has just entered rehab for alcohol addiction. The 43 year old has admitted to friends he "just can't do it on his own" anymore.
The R&B singer just completed a tour with his former band-mates New Edition and suffered the loss of his ex-wife Whitney Houston back in February and appeared on Ellen where he opened up about how her death affected him.
Since Whitney's death, he married longtime girlfriend Alicia Etheridge, who says that Bobby is doing well.-DocFB
Sly Stone is in a rehab facility for 30 days and will spend 60 more days in there to avoid jail time. While Herman Cain cops a feel, Sly copped a plea.
Sly was arrested earlier this year in April for being in possession of cocaine while doing a search of his vehicle.
He pleaded no contest to the charges on Tuesday and agreed to the sentencing of 60 more days in rehab other than jail time.
Stone has said when he gets out of rehab, he hopes to return to his music career and work with Lady Gaga along with others.
We are pulling for Sly......we just hope it is not the same song and dance for someone so legendary.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Drugs are bad....OK?
We can confirm that Sly Stone has entered rehab over the weekend and when he gets out, he wants to record with Lady Gaga.
This was the statement released to drfunkenberry.com regarding his checking into rehab;
"Sly wants to get clean, and stay sober. Sly has fallen on very hard times in the past few years. Sly will be in rehab for at least the next 90 days, and he is committed to getting sober."
So, after Sly gets out, he wants to record with Lady Gaga. He stated in September that he has hundreds of tracks newly recorded that Gaga could use.
"I see all the guys playing those old songs. Let these guys know, like Lady Gaga, let me come in, just let me come in and pay me if you like it."
Stone recently admitted last month that he is homeless, by choice it seems, living on the streets of Crenshaw.
We really hope the 8th time is the charm for Sly. It is truly heartbreaking to see a legend like him not able to beat and battle his demons.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Gaga And Sly? Hmm.
Rome from Sublime recorded "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse as a tribute to the late singer this weekend and it is quite good.
Rome had this to say about recording the song;
I recorded this tribute for Amy Winehouse after I heard the news of her passing. she is a huge inspiration to my music. We miss you Amy.
We are digging this version of it. Check it out above and let us know what you think.-Dr.FB
Diagnosis: It's Sublime.....No Pun Intended
There are times when songs are so powerful. They are not sung perfectly. They are not going to win awards. The message, however, the journey, makes the song amazing. This is one of those instances. We all know Demi Lovato has been though a lot in the past year. Rehab. So-called weight issues. Losing the approval of Disney moms. The thing is, many teenage girls relate to her in ways we just don't understand.
"Skyscraper" (The other blogger cannot even spell that right) debuted on E! News tonight. They get it. They are not putting Demi under the rug. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone wants to rise up as tall as a skyscraper after hitting rock bottom.
"You can take everything I have. You can break everything I am" she sings. The thing is, they did. Yet, she is rising from the ground.
Like I said before, it is not sung perfectly but the emotions more than make up for it. If it was sung perfectly without the emotions and inspiration, I would not be digging it.-Dr.FB
